NKWG: Next Event - NKNet film festival - April 14, 12:30-3:00PM

Happy Spring break, everyone!

Just wanted to put this out there by email - some of you may have seen the Facebook posts, but I believe many have not. 

Ja-eun has been working on putting together a North Korea film festival, showcasing films by NKNet on North Korean human rights. As a part of the film festival, we are working on inviting Kim Young Hwan, a human rights activist based out of South Korea. Currently, we have space reserved for April 14, 12:30-3:00PM in Cabot 702.

Ja-eun -- please chime in if any of what I said above needs to be corrected. Also, below are some of the tasks that we'd like to follow up on. Please let me know if you're able to assist on any of these matters:

• Invite Tufts LiNK
• Invite the HKS NK Study Group
• Invite John S. Park, frequent lecturer on matters related to North Korea
• Anything else?

Hello all!

Happy Spring break!

 

Date: April 10th 12:30 to 3:00 

Yes, I booked on 14th, before NKnet confirmed the date. However, after I told them I wanted to change the date because there was no room left to be book on 10th, they said based on my previous email they already book the flight and couldn't change. So this lecuture will be April 10th. 

 

Making a reservation

So, now the biggest assignment for us is findng a room.

I booked M235 from 12:30 to 1:45 but I don't think it is not a proper place.

I went to Burnum and asked to facutlies, they said they don't handle reservation and sent me to Dawling Hall. I went to, they said I have to get through Mary. So far, Mary doesn't respond to me.

 

I hope someone can help me to reserve a nice conference hall with more than 40 capacity. (because we need to prepare beforehand, we need to book from 11:30 at least) 

Young-Chan said he can help with this but it takes time than I thought. So maybe someone can help Young-Chan, it would be nice!

 

Contacting Prof John Park

In addition, we need a person who can contact Prof Park. I can't remember who said he/she could do that when we first met.

 

Liaison with NKnet for the information on accommodation and transportation

Also, I can be a liaison with NKnet but they asked me about accommodation/transportation which I don't know well. So, if someone knows well Boston area, please give me some information or I will refer that person to NKnet so contact them directly.

Making a poster and promotion

We need to make a poster with a good title, attracting many people. I mean he is a real figure in Korea, I want more people have a chance to meet him and he flies over to Boston because he wants to meet us. He doesn't have any other schedule except Fletcher lecture.

Christina said she can help setting up electronic invitation. 

 

Interpretation from English to Korean

Another thing is interpretation. Prof Lee would interpret Korean to English when Mr. Kim gives a lecture but after that, Prof Lee will discuss on the subject. We need a good interpreter from English to Korean for Mr. Kim while prof Lee and John Park are discussing.

 

Reviewing Movies: four volunteers needed.

Also, I spread dates for movie screening. We have four movies with English title and it will arrive on during this week. I want someone to review first and give some summary for future audience. That means I need four volunteers.
