Below is an event coming up in Boston next week. Not sure who's still around. I can't make it, but CAIA and BSA often have such events. They're usually well attended by local finance professionals. Even though it says "members fees" I'm pretty sure that non-members can still register.

In April 2012, President Obama signed the Jumpstart Our Business Startups (JOBS) Act and provisions, which may have implications on the way private investments can be solicited from the public. Hedge funds are likely faced with new challenges and opportunities under the new rules of the game. How can investment managers make their best use of this opportunity to expand their business and thrive?

Stan Bornstein is owner of Dibona, Bornstein and Random, a Boston advertising firm providing services in comprehensive and integrated marketing and communications across a wide range of industries, businesses, and organizations. Bornstein will provide an overview of the new policy and the opportunities it leads to. He will also explain important issues regarding timing of the marketing market, differentiating your brand, communication with your clients, and creating effective agency relationships in the upcoming era of hedge fund marketing.

Richard Goldman is a partner of Bingham Law Firm, where he represents U.S. and international hedge funds and funds of funds, advising them on a broad range of issues, including formation and structure, strategic and seed capital arrangements, succession planning, marketing and solicitation arrangements, separately managed accounts, and all types of trading and operational issues. Goldman will give a thorough review of the related amendments and requirements to take "reasonable steps" to verify accredited investors, and introduce solicitation and advertising strategies for hedge fund managers.
