Hey Finance Club,

Fletcher's Sovereign Wealth Fund Initiative, K&L Gates (a big law firm connected to CEME), and maybe some other sponsor companies are organizing a conference on investment in infrastructure in emerging markets, taking place in October in Washington DC.

The goal is to bring together approximately 10 sovereign wealth funds and pensions, infrastructure fund managers, and maybe policy makers to discuss topics including: investment structure (JVs, fund vehicles, co-investments, investment syndication); barriers to investment (geographic, political, legal); and opportunities, probably focusing on a few specific case studies or regions.

Right now the organizers aren't planning for significant student involvement, which is a pity.  But if there is student interest, I think we could get them to create some roles for students, perhaps:

1. Background research on the topics, trends in the sector, key investors and managers, etc.
2. Coordination with conference participants and speakers, Less substantive, but great networking.

Let me know if this conference is something you would like to get involved in, and if so in what capacity, and I will raise the issue.

Adam
