Today was so inspiring I just wanted to wish my oldest friends a wonderful, happy, healthy new era.

(My first political memory, if memory serves me right, is of Miss Kibby explaining Watergate to us in first grade)

Best,
Diana R

I wish I could remember that conversation but I was prolly too
entranced in her to attend to anything she said.

Happy New Era indeed! Well said.

I am still numb by the whole event..I can't believe that MLK's dream has become a reality and I pray that Obama will have the support to make a difference. I am so glad that my school gave up valuable teaching time to watch Obama's inauguration. The students were engaged and happy to be apart of such an amazing life time experience. Now the hard work begins. I pray Obama finds the inner strength to do what is right for our country and the world. We should be proud to be Americans.

Best to you David,

I wish everyone a happy new era too. When Obama talked today of the patchwork that is so special and makes up America I thought for a minute about our class and our early years. Admittedly we did not represent the whole broad diversity of this country, but in our own way, as residents of NY and the products of a bilingual school, I believe we got the message from the very beginning that people come from all over and all cultures are valuable and add to a greater whole. I think we were lucky to have learned these lessons so early in life and I am excited to move into a new era when hopefully they will finally get their due.

Yeah to a new era!!!!  It's become a poignant new time for me with renewed hope, inspiration & gratitude starting from a couple of days ago when my dear friend Tess and her family survived the plane crash in the Hudson...I thank God and feel that this is a truly miraculous time in all of our lives...let's keep believing.

Everything here in the UK stopped for this, in a way it never stops for any local or European political event. (The only equivalent I can think of was Princess Di's funeral.)

The attention was unprecedented -  people flocked to sports bars and electronics shops, loads of people crowded onto trading floors to watch.

For the first time in a long while, I do feel proud and hopeful.

...come to think of it...has there ever been a time where that many people gathered in Washington and all over the world for something positive...not a protest.
