The graduation program mentions the classmates listed below, and I've
added *names* of those who were with us for a few years but left
before graduation (usually after 6th grade, I think). For all names,
I've included email addresses where possible, and I'll update this
list when I get more updated information. I'd also appreciate contact
info about our teachers!
Here is some basic information on those of us whom I've contacted:
Mary R. Slavova BACHVAROFF --> BACHVAROVA. Diana Rickard realized that
she might have adopted the female ending to her name -- and she was
right. Mary is a classics professor; I just heard from her (within the
past 60 seconds -- hi, Mary!).
Philip CAVALIER writes: I'm currently an associate professor of
English at Catawba College in North Carolina. I'm also Dean of
General Education. Married, three children.
Valerie DESJARDINS Harrington. She's a freelance script supervisor for
film and tv and is getting ready (post-writers' strike) to resume work
on Rescue Me. She and her husband have a just-turned-2-year-old son
named Mark. She and Veronique have been close all these years.
Veronique FIRKUSNY Callegari is a talent agent/coordinator who helps
musicians with their careers. Her husband, Victor, is the key make-up
artist for the Metropolitan Opera House. Their daugher is 18 and their
son is 16 (those are not typos!).
Kelben HOLBROOK and I spoke at length. From his email:
I have kept in touch with DJ over the years...he still lives in New
York and does a lot of financial markets trading for himself and likes
to hike and rock-climb. I've also kept in touch with Guy off and on.
Last I spoke to him he was really into Poker. I did run into
Jeannot's parents a few years ago and they filled me in on his Coast
Guard life. I never got to speak to him directly though. There was a
Trinity 20th reunion a couple of years ago (my high school), and saw
Mark McCabe there. At that time he was a firefighter in Colorado. I
am saddened to hear about Jaret.
As for myself, after Trinity, I went to University of Michigan for
college and studied engineering, then got an MBA a few years later at
NYU. I've basically worked in financial services as a
consultant/business analyst and more recently I've worked here in Palm
Beach County (Florida) as a financial planner to individuals. I'm
currently at a small software company called Exis Consulting based in
New York that sells investment software for banks and brokerage
houses, but I'm not sure how much longer I will be working for them.
I got familiar with the West Palm Beach, Florida area after my mother
moved here for retirement, and I moved here myself in 2005 into a
house that I originally bought as an investment (I should have sold it
when I had the chance). Very recently I married a vivacious
Venezuelan named Claudia that I met here about two years ago. Anyway,
that's my one paragraph summary of my life since Fleming.
ALEXANDER HORNIG is living with wife Jill in Connecticut. I am looking
forward to speaking with him (I chatted briefly with Jill today). His
1997 wedding announcement mentions that he was an EMT in Greenwich,
CT, but I'm not sure what he's doing 11 years later.
Diana RICKARD is "abd" and teaching poetry and such at CUNY. She's
living the good life in Brooklyn and is very excited about a reunion,
virtual or actual, with her fellow Flemingos. She has been a big help
in this searching process. When I mentioned that I'd had no success
looking for Mary Bachvaroff, she immediately found her on the internet
by looking for 'Mary Bachvarova.' Diana has also had success using
Facebook as a way to reconnect with college pals, and she suggested we
do the same. I'm putting her on the case!
Jennifer ROGGE went to Riverdale for a couple years and then and then
took off to Geneva for her baccalaureate and a degree in languages.
She did some translating at the consulate in Nassau, Bahamas. She
broke an engagement, moved to California, and hasn't looked back.
She's been to 36 countries, but who's counting? She has her own
concierge service. She lives 20 minutes from the Mexican border and
swims in the ocean everyday. She has an amazing memories for tiny,
funny details about all of us.
Sam SEIDEL (from our conversation and his website:) Sam received a
B.A. in classics from Berkeley in 1988 and holds a public policy
degree from Georgetown and an urban planning degree from Harvard.
Before moving to Cambridge, Sam worked in Washington D.C., both for
the congressional Office of Technology Assessment and in the Executive
Office of Science and Technology Policy. He also worked for a brief
time as executive assistant to Eunice Kennedy Shriver. He's married to
Ann Smith. The beautiful dog in their photo recently passed away.

DAVID STONE (me). I went to Fieldston and then Vassar (along with Evan
Tawil. We even ended up in the same Freshman Econ class). I married a
Vassar girl, Shirra, in 1993, and we have 3 kids: Fiona (12), Emmett
(8.5) and Maeve (nearly 4). That same year, I began playing Scrabble
in tournaments and eventually found myself among the top 50 rated
players in the US (I'm in the top 150 now). I also began a total of 13
years as a learning specialist (Heschel, Dalton, and then Packer). I
haven't stopped unicycling -- I got my first uni with the last of my
Bar Mitzvah money back in March of 1980 -- and in 2001 I started the
New York Unicycle Club (newyorkunicycle.com -- rarely updated). The
club has many adult and child participants and often gets turnouts of
50 riders who basically hang out together twice a month. We've been
featured in a few articles and tv shows, some of which are on youtube
(here's one: http://youtube.com/watch?v=BwbTzibX7Wg). Yes, I'm the
bald guy. After years living in Manhattan (and 5 years in Brooklyn),
we moved to New Paltz in late 2006; Shirra recently opened a knitting
store, and I've been tutoring in Manhattan. I've also been a volunteer
firefighter for just over a year. I have a few blogs; the main one is
newpaltz.blogspot.com.
EVAN TAWIL, as noted, went to Vassar. He is apparently in the kids'
fashion industry with Tawil Associates. I got a quick note from him
yesterday and will try to call him tom'w.
People I have not contacted (or have little or no information about):
Stephane BABIN: I have no real leads. I have a feeling he may be
living in France.
*Tony BARKIN*. I'm not sure what grade he stayed at Fleming until.
Someone remembered that his sister is named Sarah. I hope we can
follow up more on Tony.
Claudia Ruth BUKSZPAN Rutherford: She is a psychotherapist living in
NYC (maybe Brooklyn). I am waiting to hear back from
<cbuk...@yahoo.com> in hopes that this is her email address. Her
younger brother Daniel should be easy to track down, in case we can't
contact Claudia directly. Diana Rickard tells me that Claudia is on
facebook, which I'm in the process of joining.
Diana Robin CAPALDI. I can't find much on her except this note from a
Univ. of VA webpage. I'm not even sure that she went there, but I do
know that after Fleming, she attended Stuyvesant HS. "Diana Capaldi
Gonzales (Col '88, Grad '90 L/M) and her husband, Joel B. Gonzales
(Col '88 L/M), welcomed their fourth child and first son, Alexander
Thomas, on Jan. 17, 2006. He joins older sisters Anna, Sophie and
Julia. The family resides in Denver, where Dr. Joel Gonzales practices
sports medicine."
John A DORFMAN.
Nicole Elizabeth KARAMAN. I ran into Nicole at a trade show back in
the mid-90s. There's not much on Google about her, and nothing recent.
Frederika KESTEN. She is listed as an actress (including voice-overs)
in many movies over the years, including what appears to have been a
starring role in an indie that was never widely distributed.
Maud KINNELL. I have had no luck searching for her. Help!
David B. ("DJ") MARTIN, Jr. As noted, Kelben has contact info on DJ,
so I'm looking forward to reaching out to him soon.
Guy K. MAXTONE-GRAHAM. He and his older brother Ian worked on Beavis
and Butthead; Guy wrote many episodes and did some voice-overs, too.
I'm not sure what he's doing of late. I've attached a great photo of
Guy.
*Mark McCABE*. Mark went to Trinity HS and then got a degree in
philosophy before moving to Colorado and becoming a firefighter. Diana
Rickard ran into him when she lived there. I haven't contacted him but
look forward to doing so. Apparently he's no longer in Colorado.
*Jori MELTZER (Wolfe?)*. I put in a call but haven't heard back. There
can't be too many Jori Meltzers. Jori has a younger sister named Tara.
If I have the right person, she's living in Scarsdale.
*Kareen NAHAS*. She has a great website: kareenpaints.com. I'm hoping
to hear back from her soon. Sorry to say, I don't remember her.
*Michele PATESTIDES*. I've had no luck. Help!
ANITA QUITTNER. I have a call in to an Anita Quittner (can there be
more than one?) and will try again tomorrow. She is apparently the
owner of a business in NYC.
Stacy RICHMAN. Jennifer Rogge said that Stacy is on classmates.com as
Stacy Reich, so I'll try her there. I believe Stacy was friends with
Frederika.
Cordelia Daae ROOSEVELT. I found a nice photo of her cutting a ribbon
in honor of her great-granddad Teddy. I'm sure we can locate her
somehow.
Maggie Ann ROSEN. Maggie is apparently a food writer of both books and articles.
Darryl Joan SCHAFFER. I've had no luck so far. Help!
Blair SCHWARTZ. No luck so far. She was good friends with Diana
Capaldi. I hope that they stayed in touch.
Amanda Pilar SMITH. No luck, but she grew up in a building on 86th St,
according to Valerie, so I can ask if her parents are still there --
maybe I'll get lucky. Actually, the same is true for Frederika, who
lived just down the street.
Jeannot SMITH. He joined the coast guard. In 2003 her married a fellow
lieutenant, Katie Richardson. Some of us have been in contact with
him, and I look forward to adding him to our databse when I hear back
from him.
Stephanie Anne STONE Ferguson. I have no leads except that her married
name is Ferguson.
Alexandra Raquel "Sasha" STOLLMAN. No leads thus far.
Marla Sari STUHL. According to Jennifer, she went to Riverdale HS after Fleming.
Patricia Ann George TERZIS. I think her parents own an import shop.
Perhaps she no longer lives in the US.
*Jaret WEISFOGEL*. Jaret became a professor of East Asian Studies. His
brother Amiel (class of 84, along with my brother) wrote an
impassioned open letter to parents, asking them to save their
newborns' cord blood, which can often save people suffering from
certain illnesses. Sadly, Jaret died in 2005 of non-Hodgkins lymphoma
at age 38 after a 4-year battle with the disease.
David ZABEL. He's an executive producer of "E.R." He's done some
acting, too. Here is a long interview from a few years back:
http://www.twoadverbs.com/Zabel%20interview.htm. I ran into David when
we were both playing pick-up softball in the mid-90s. Interesting
fact: In his interview, he mentions studying with Maud Kinnell's
Pulitzer-Prize-winning father, a poet.
*PERRY ???*. I'm sorry to say that I can't recall Perry's surname, but
I remember her long chestnut hair.

A Fleming alum has started a website devoted to the school. She has
information about various classes (not ours) including names of
teachers by each year -- which is really nice to see! -- and some
other great stuff. I'll try to get ahold of the actual class list (I
think I have our graduation program) and will send her some of our
information in dribs and drabs. If you have any photos, feel free to
scan them and send me a copy. I may have some, too.

David
Hi all. Evan Tawil here.
Happy to offer my little update:
After Fleming, I went to Riverdale, which I loved as much as Fleming. Then went to Vassar, which I liked a lot LESS, but got a decent education.
From there…..basically went in to my family’s apparel firm which has been established since 1950 or so. The firm is one of the great manufacturers of children and baby apparel supplying all levels of retail distribution. Some of our brands are ABSORBA, BABY DIOR, JUICY COUTURE, DISNEY as well as others.
I’ve also been a very active collector of contemporary art since the age of 21. Also have interests and involvement in real estate in NYC and outside.
Had two children with my first wife. Children are Isaac (now 12) and Grace (now 10). Got rid of 1st wife after 6 years and eventually met and married my current and FINAL wife, Vanessa. Have 2 children with her – Norma (4) and Eddie (1).
Live and work in Manhattan. Things are pretty OK I guess. Could be better. Could be A LOT worse.
Mark McCabe after retiring from the Fire Department of Boulder Colorado, went back to school to University of Chicago school of medicine where he graduated around 2007. He is now doing his residency in Seattle. He has a son, Owen. Not sure if this e-mail of his is current as he and I usually communicate by phone: momcc...@gmail.com but I think it should be.
I think the Perry that David Stone asks about was Perrry ERLANGER ? But she left Fleming like after 4th grade?

Evan, thanks for the great update (and congrats on it all going so well -- or at least not going as poorly as it could have!).
