That is a beautifully-written piece.

Victoria Coren Mitchell gets better and better.

Funny and poignant and battling and sad is a hard tone to achieve,
but she nails it.

I too had a great liking for John Diamond - we used to correspond and chat very frequently. In my book on Electronic Commerce written in 1997 there was a mini-drama set in the then 'future' of 2005 where British was in the Euro and John Diamond the Times Theatre Critic has written a review of the new musical about the Blair prime ministry called "Walking on Water". It was my little dark joke with John with us both knowing that he would not be around in 2005 - and he was happy for it to appear as part of the legal literature.
