Lightning Fleet Note - Spring Series, Week 1

Hello everyone,

With our first Sunday series just over a week away, I wanted to send a quick note as a reminder that the season is nearly here. If you haven't had a chance to check the forecast yet, it's looking warm - so don't be dissuaded if you're usually a fair-weather sailor this early in the year.

Going forward, I plan to send these notes out each Monday before a racing weekend. My hope is that they can serve as a way to help crews get organized and get more boats on the water. If you're looking for crew, or you're available and interested in getting on a boat, feel free to reply all or reach out to me directly. I'm happy to play matchmaker, or let folks sort things out among themselves, whatever works best.

If you haven't already, please make sure you've signed up for your race committee slots. Volunteering your time isn't just required to be scored in the series - it's the only way a race can happen at all. And don't forget, you don't have to go it alone: non-sailors, family, and friends are all welcome to help out.

On another note, I'll be heading down to the marina today to do some spring cleaning on my boat. If you'll be around for the Laser regatta or doing your own prep, feel free to swing by and say hi.

I'm working feverishly on building a mast for Shadowfax and expect to be out next week.  

Today Will Summers was at the marina sailing in the Capital City Laser Regatta.  He and his family will be moving to Prague for three years, so his Lightning is available.   He may give it away.  Don't quote me.  But he has only sailed it once or twice a year which doesn't justify the slip fees.   If memory serves it is a very nice Nickels built boat.

I’ll be at the marina on Sunday (12. April) to do a bit of work on Beedobeat and Too Many Cooks.  I’ll also be there on the 18th as I get things prepped and tuned.  If anybody needs a hand with anything, let me know.
