Also, just a reminder that our 2018 season kicks off in just a couple weeks, with team racing starting Tuesday, April 17th and fleet racing starting Thursday, April 19th.  You can go ahead and sign up on the fleet site.

Dear TISC Supporter,

I am writing to share some exciting news about the US Olympic Sailing Program making its home at the Treasure Island Sailing Center(TISC). We wanted to get you this as soon as it came out as you have been a valuable partner in helping TISC take major steps forward.

Twenty years ago, TISC started with a mission to provide access to the bay, sailing programs and facilities to novice and Olympic sailors alike.  Since then, we have developed a robust learn to sail program including summer camps and "Set Sail Learn", a STEM Program that brings 1,500 4th graders onto the San Francisco Bay each year to learn about sailing and science.  

Now, through a partnership with the St. Francis Sailing Foundation and the US Sailing Association, TISC has been designated as the primary home and training center for the US Olympic Sailing Program.  Through this partnership, we are launching FAST USA, the Facilities for Advanced Sailing & Technology, a program and venue that will help us in supporting San Francisco’s youth to become leaders and champions of tomorrow. The mission of TISC is focused on serving youth and families from marginalized communities and we are particularly pleased that this mission is also part of the FAST vision. FAST is a long-term initiative spurred in part by the 2028 summer Olympics coming to California.

I am attaching a press release that will go out on Thursday.  Although we were hoping to delay the news until our new facility was up and running in the fall, the word started to get out and we felt it imperative to make the announcement as soon as possible.  

We are asking for your support and enthusiasm for this exciting initiative.  FAST USA will help get our sailors on the podium in 2028 when the Olympic Games come to Los Angeles.  Both locally and from around the great state of California, it will help us provide numerous opportunities for kids in our communities since a primary focus of FAST  USA will be the creation of pathways from beginner to advanced sailing and technology opportunities.

Further, we would love to have you at our 20th Anniversary Celebration this fall to celebrate the past 20 years of services to our community and the launch of FAST USA marking an exciting beginning to the next 20 years.  You can tour the new facility including the human performance, weather and technology labs, meet our kids and athletes, and take a sail on Clipper Cove.   We will send you and your staff more information on the date as the time gets closer.
