Hi All,
I haven't used this list in a long time but many of us are in a similar circumstance where our activities and obligations have shifted from 10 plus years ago when we were thrill seeking out on the water as part of the Vanguard 15 fleet.
Anyhow, a couple close friends of mine have purchased e-mountain bikes and are actively riding in surrounding parks and beyond. When I bought my Vanguard, aside from wanting to do it, I saw that there was an opportunity that would inspire me to use it.
I was hesitant to purchase the bike just now, but seeing that my friends are regularly riding, I have been passionate about biking in the past, and could use some inspiration to ramp up my cardio, I took the plunge.
The subject reads e-bikes but the friends I'm referring to bought e mountain bikes, designed for off-road use. These things are amazing and your cardio levels will be the same as on a regular bike, you'll just be able to travel three times as far in the same amount of time. They are pedal-assist bikes that you have to pedal to make go, the effect is they flatten out the hills (putting it lightly). Many people are taking them up because of previous injury or other restrictions that would make it difficult to enjoy the type of freedom, thrill, and enjoyment having a bike out on a trail provides.
There are some pretty cool rides right here in Benicia/Vallejo as well as up behind Martinez that can be easily ridden to and back. My friends have also been loading up and riding Briones, Lafayette Reservoir, and other nearby areas every weekend, quick style, like back at home by late morning.
Anyhow, I'd be happy to elaborate further if any of you are interested. I've spent a lot of time recently noodling this topic.
Josh
