While Hit-Girl's death/survival is a fun final joke based on the event's time travel premise, the character deserved a lot better. It's not yet clear which Hit-Girl died - the time-traveling savior or the new timeline's Mindy - but either way it's a true tragedy, and could even be described as the Millarverse breaking its own narrative rules. Hit-Girl is the most competent killer on the heroes' side, hence why she's able to escape through time and bring down the Fraternity. However, this also means that having her be the only major fatality in the grand hero vs villain battle is a betrayal of how she's been portrayed in every other appearance. Taken by itself, it's a cheap death for an ultra-skilled hero who has spent a lifetime honing her abilities.
Big Game pulled every comic under Millarverse's umbrella together in a huge confrontation pitting heroes against villains. While the series killed off many heroes over its run, Hit-Girl's time travel mission means she's the only victim by the time of its conclusion. For casual fans, very little just changed, and Hit-Girl will likely return in future stories. However, for those who have been following Hit-Girl since 2008's Kick-Ass #1, it's a grim way for Mindy to lose her life, especially as she's immediately replaced with so little fanfare.

Dave and Katie become closer and Dave reluctantly decides to go along with the rumor that he is gay in order to spend time with Katie. After learning from Katie that her abusive ex-boyfriend Rasul, a petty drug dealer, is continuously harassing her, Dave convinces her to leave Kick-Ass a message on his website to deal with Rasul personally. Kick-Ass goes to confront Rasul at his apartment to warn him off Katie. Rasul challenges Kick-Ass to stop him. Kick-Ass shoots Rasul with a taser, but is quickly overpowered by Rasul's thugs. Rasul grabs a knife and is about to kill Kick-Ass when he is suddenly impaled on a spear from behind by Hit-Girl, another costumed vigilante, who proceeds to fight and kill Rasul's thugs and steal his money. After introducing herself to Kick-Ass, she prepares to depart with her father and crime-fighting partner Big Daddy. She wants Kick-Ass to escape with them, but he is too afraid to risk his life by jumping from one rooftop to another. Disappointed, they leave without him.
After a while Mindy decided it was time for Dave's first field test so the two met up in an alley were Mindy gave Dave some new clothes to wear and told him to go fishing. Once dressed Dave walked down the street wearing expensive clothing, Mindy stayed in contact with him through an earpiece. It wasn't long before Dave got the attention of some thugs who began to follow him, Mindy ordered Dave to walk into an alley wear the thug surrounded him. The leader of the gang pulled out a knife and told Dave to hand over his bag and at that very moment Dave swung the bags to hit two thugs and began fighting. Dave was able to beat each thug on his own until he was knocked onto the ground, the thugs began kicking Dave until Mindy showed up in her Hit Girl outfit. Mindy easily defeated each thug with her nun chucks and double bladed sword, after the fight Dave angrily confronts her saying that she almost got him killed but the conversation is cut short when a cop arrives at the scene. Dave tells Mindy to run while he deals with the cop.

Despite his unfortunate start at being a real life superhero, he decides to try again after leaving the hospital and recovering from his injuries. He eventually manages to successfully defend a man being attacked by a group of thugs. His actions are filmed and posted on YouTube and he becomes an overnight celebrity who eventually begins inspiring more people to do what he does.
The two vigilantes strategise an assault on Genovese, and Hitgirl manages to kill him. Dave beats Red Mist into submission and leaves him defeated. Afterwards, Dave helps Hitgirl return to normal, going home to her mother and her stepfather. He discovers his father has got his sexlife back on track, and instead of being shocked, he is happy for him. One day at school, Dave approaches Katie Deuxma and confesses that he was never gay and he had been lying to her all that time. Engraged, she gets her boyfriend Carl to punch him, giving him a bloody nose. That night, after walking in on his Dad and a woman he met on a grieving forum, Dave is texted a picture of Katie and Carl having oral sex.
Sometime after the events of Kick Ass, Mindy and David make a deal she'll teach him to be a Super hero and he will teach her to fit in at school. Mindy has David take an oath of Justice and teaches him how to crash through windows and beat up thugs. Then one night the pair go to take down a Russian gang. Everything is going well but David breaks his hand on a thugs face and Mindy is "forced" to use lethal means to get David out safely. The broken hand leaves David on the injure list for at least two months. Meanwhile Mindy takes down the Genovese family. When David's hand is better, Mindy finds him and though she gave up the cape and promised her step-father not to be Hit Girl, she has decided to train David to be a great crime fighter.
