Dear Friends,

 

Participatory Video pioneers Insight are conducting a 5 day training in PV as a tool for social change. The training is suitable for all change-makers, community development practitioners, social workers, activists, researchers, teachers, trainers and facilitators who have an interest in or are seeking ways of strengthening citizens' voice & locally-led change.

The introductory course will equip the participants with skills for designing and facilitating PV processes. No previous video experience is required. Experience in the use of participatory methods (for example, PRA/PLA/Reflect) and basic facilitation skills are useful.

Insight runs two courses a year in London, UK.

NEXT COURSE: 15TH  -19TH of JUNE 2009 in LONDON

Additionally, this year Insight will be running a 2 day 'Editing for Participatory Video' course following the 5 day PV course, on the weekend of June 20th - 21st.

Places on both trainings are limited to 12 trainees and are allocated on a first come, first served basis, our last 3 trainings have all sold out so BOOK NOW!

 

Costs:

5 day PV training: £500 (a limited number of concessionary places are available).

2 day Editing for PV training: £ 250

7 days PV Course + Editing Course (Monday - Sunday) : £700

What we've been doing lately:

1. Nick has been working on climate change focused PV projects with the Baka in the forest of Cameroon and with indigenous youth in Cambridge Bay, Alaska as part of our bio-cultural diversity programme (BCD).

2. Chris has been working with INDIGO & IIED to use PV for M&E, supporting Rooibos growers in the Western Cape, South Africa, focussing on adaptation strategies to climate change.

He also visited the team at our PV hub in Inanda township, near Durban and is developing a programme of community-led participatory media hubs across townships in South Africa in the lead up to the South African world cup 2010.

3. Gareth and Isabelle have been working with the Maasai community in the

Rift Valley, Kenya, helping them to record the impacts of drought and

their adaptation to climate changes.

4. Monika, Soledad and Jean-Luc are continuing to work with the people of Lambeth at our London hub, with a strong focus on youth and Sport for development.

5. Maja has been working with three indigenous communities in Peru helping

them to track the effects of climate change (BCD programme link).
