FLCC Gravel 5/11, Brooktondale Post Office, 6:00 pm

This week we're shaking things up, meeting up at the Brooktondale post office instead of our usual rally points. If you're gravel curious, come join us! This is a relatively short route with a mix of gravel and pavement. The most technical bits are uphill, and the downhills are paved.

- Meeting at the Brooktondale Post Office

- Route: Brooktondale, Bald Hill, Downey, old 76 13.7 miles, +/- 1,510 ft

What to expect

Three gravel segments: Ball Hill Rd (a long steep climb on hard packed gravel), Bald Hill School Rd (looser gravel through the forest with a short descent to Braley Hill Rd), and Downey Rd (another climb, this time on looser gravel, but not as long as Bald Hill). The rest is pavement, including a long, smooth, scenic descent on Old 76 Rd. 

Shorter, less technical option

Instead of taking a right up Downey, just keep going, joining up with the route again where it loops back on Old 76 Rd. This cuts the ride down to just about 10 miles and 1,131 feet of elevation

The first few miles are tough, but the rest is more forgiving and a chance to socialize more once we've all caught our breath. It'll be fun (type I, II, or III is your call)!
