My crystal reports were working fine until I decided to save as pdf and I was getting an error system path not found, after that I read somewhere that I can install the 32 bit version and it will work but the problem is after I installed the 32 bit version runtime file, my reports aren't opening when I double click on a crystal report to view it's designer I'm getting the error "operation not found"

I tried doing the generate only on the report with no luck. I simply added a field from a table already in the BAQ. The report still works but when I open it in Crystal Reports the new field is not there.

SAP Crystal Reports Designer is a powerful, graphics-oriented reporting program that allows users to customize their graphical forms. SAP Crystal Reports Designer is fully integrated with Sage 100. Sage 100 provides a number of customizable SAP Crystal Reports forms as part of the standard installation.

The Workstation Setup program for Sage 100 installs the standard SAP Crystal Reports Run-Time Engine on each workstation, which allows all users to view and print reports created through SAP Crystal Reports; however, to modify the standard forms included with Sage 100, or to create your own reports, you must install the SAP Crystal Reports Designer.

To modify reports in Sage 100 Premium using SAP Crystal Reports Designer, you must either be logged on using a Windows account that has read access to the applicable SQL Server database, or you must have a separate SQL Server authenticated logon ID and password.

In addition to using SAP Crystal Reports Designer to modify reports, you can also modify the reports through the operating system by setting up an OLE DB (ADO) connection to the SQL Server database. Only modifications such as moving items around on the report, changing font information, and hiding or showing information already in the database is supported.

Verify that the company selected has the appropriate modules installed. For example, do not convert Bill of Materials reports for demo company code ABC. Those modules do not exist in company ABC, and the conversion will not complete for those reports.

You can select individual or multiple reports within the listing to convert. Select the report, or press CTRL to make multiple selections. Click Select All to convert all reports within the listing. Click Clear to clear the listing. To complete the conversion, click Next.

If a field name used within the report or form no longer exists in the data source, it will be noted on the listing and removed from the report or form. If the removed field is contained in a formula, an SAP Crystal Reports error in printing message will appear when printing.

If the conversion wizard cannot convert that report, the report must be manually converted. If errors are encountered during the conversion, the wizard will skip the report and continue with the next selected report.

The Crystal Reports Designer is an application which provides graphical interface to develop reports and provides flexibility and control during the creation of highly formatted, feature-rich reports.
It includes a complete and rich set of layout and design controls to give the created reports a professional, pixel-perfect appearance without any custom coding, streamline the number of reports by using parameters and organize data in a logical manner using sections, groups and sorting. The outlook of the ad-hoc chart and map reports is supported by the intelligent charting feature that automatically recommends the best chart type for a given set of data.

For novice users, Crystal Reports includes an intuitive report design expert and a report creation wizard. For more advanced users, Crystal Reports lets control over most features, including formulas, conditional formatting and object positioning so the reports can be highly customized.

Crystal Reports provides a set of over 35 data connection drivers to any relational, OLAP, XML or in-memory data source. CR provides native, ODBC, OLE DB or JDBC connectivity to databases, files, logs, enterprise applications, program elements or BusinessObjects Enterprise universes.
The underlying SQL for every report developed in Crystal Reports can be customized which provides a complete control over how the data is queried. It is also easy to link data from multiple sources and in multiple languages within the same report.

Crystal Reports report designer is composed of the Toolbar, Design tab and Field Explorer and Report Explorer tabs.
Toolbar is divided into Standard, Formatting, Insert, Experts, Navigation bars.

Design tab provides environment for designing a report. Data you want to place on the report is represented by fields that you put in sections of the report. In the Design tab you can also do formatting or specify sorting order and grouping.
Design tab basic sections:

  • Report Header
  • Page Header
  • Details
  • Report Footer
  • Page Footer
Click here to find more about Sections

Field Explorer is used to insert, modify or delete fields from the report. Database Fields folder consist a list of database tables and columns you can retrieve data from. If you're not connected to the database, right-click on Database Fields folder and select Database Expert. In the Database Expert dialog box select connection to the database or create new one. Select tables you want to use and click OK. Expand the Database Fields folder to see all available objects. To put field on the report drag it and drop field frame on the report or select a field and use Insert Field button from the Field Explorer toolbar.

You can switch from the Field Explorer tab to Report Explorer tab to manage sections of the report.
To add Special Fields like page number, print date or comments expand Special Fields folder in the Field Expert tab. From the list of special fields choose the one you want to use and drag-and-drop it in the section where you want to place it.
To insert Text object select Insert Text Object from the Toolbar. Draw the text object frame in the section you want to place it. Fill the frame with a text.
You can also put a picture on the report. To do this click Insert picture button from the Toolbar, browse for picture you want to use and open it. Place the picture frame in a particular section.
To preview the report before printing it, use Print Preview on the Toolbar. Report preview will be generated. You can also preview report in HTML format. To do this, click HTML Preview button.

Crystal Reports for Visual Studio comes with an embedded version of the Crystal Reports Designer application that you can run from within Visual Studio. The embedded Crystal Reports Designer is a GUI application. Using a collection of wizards and experts, complex report files can be built quickly and easily.

The major difference between the stand-alone application and the embedded Crystal Reports designer is that the menus and toolbars of the embedded Crystal Reports Designer within Visual Studio are limited, compared to the menus and toolbars that are available in the stand-alone version.

The data that appears in the finished report depends on your design choices. In particular, report data varies depending on the sections into which you choose to insert particular report objects. For example, if you insert a chart object in the Report Header section, the chart will appear only once at the beginning of the report and will summarize the data contained in the report. Alternatively, if a chart object is added to the Group Header section, a separate chart will appear at the beginning of each group of data and will summarize the data relating only to that group.

I am using Crystal Reports v8.5. I am having the problem with printing the report onto the A4 size paper. The RPT file was designed with the paper size 8.5 x 11 inches in mind. The Crystal Reports v8.5 CRE engine would print fine with 8.5x11 paper but would not scale correctly on the A4 paper, chopping parts of the report on the right handside.

The right-hand columns moving unexpectedly happens to reports where margins are NOT manually set, and then the report gets printed to a different default printer. I try to encourage report designers to ALWAYS set their margins on each report. It usually stops this column movement from happening in the future.

Setting the report margins dynamically at run-time does not help. Your original recommendation is the only solution for now. That is I had to modify the margin settings for the desired report (*.RPT) file(s) to accommodate for the A4 page-size document.

Every time a change is made to a report format in the Crystal Designer, it is necessary to save the report back to the EMu server. Until this is done, the data will be viewed in the old version of the report. Only users with the appropriate permissions may run, create, and modify reports.

This too is added to the report - it may display on top of the previously added group, in which case it will be necessary to adjust the placement of the summaries. In this example we place the Average summary above the Total summary and format the summaries as shown in the following screenshot.

If a report already contains grouping and summary information, Crystal Reports Designer uses this information by default. You would select alternate data from the drop lists or select the Advanced button in the left hand column to configure the Chart data from scratch.

If required, move and / or delete fields. For instance, if your report included a surname field and you've created a formula to convert the surname field to upper case, simply replace the surname field with the UpperMethod field.

Generally you would add a new field to the Details section of the report. In this case we're adding a multimedia field, and in order that it displays without overlapping other data in the Details section of the report, we'll place it in a new section.
