Installed power iso and since did eset is popping up blocking websites that power iso is trying to connect to. Eset blocked like 62 sites..and this only started after poweriso was installed. Any idea why?

My question is why is this type of software attempting to connect to the Internet with the activity you posted? It is basically just software to create a .iso file for the most part. At most, the only outbound connection it would need is to the vendor's server for software updates.

One benign reason is the software is trying to update itself. It should have an option to change/disable auto updating. Disable auto update and if the outbound connections cease, you have resolved the issue.

This post was to express surprise that the same old WinISO code has since, surfaced & been renamed to PowerISO? (remember, winiso wasn't updated since 4 years - something fishy in this, the licensed buyers of winiso left in the lurch so the utility maker can profit more by launching poweriso?)

I always use MagicISO, It supports createing /editing more cd/dvd image format than Poweriso. and you can burn files and folders to cd/dvd on the fly. Its freeware - MagicDisc can also allow you to mount cd/dvd image.

I slipstreamed acrobat 7.0.5 to my acrobat admin install. then i slipstreamed 7.0.7. Then I created an ISO using PowerISO. I told it not to compress it but it still did anyways. Did it twice and both twice it compressed it to 307 mb from 500+ mb.

Anyway, I tried to install from it and it said it couldn't read such and such file. I had to quit the installation. I tried it twice and same problem. Then I tried to copy the files from the mounted ISO to hard drive and it said there were some errors.

As I understood from a brazilian website (in Portugese, so it's possible that I misunderstands), you now have a binary file named "poweriso" in your home directory (/home/makh). Now you should be able to run it by doing this :

Hello...
Not every program installed using synaptic automatically shows in the menus. I find most packages add a menu entry to the debian menu which the last time i used gnome (back in warty) didnt have the debian menu in gnome. And even so, not all programs are configured to add a menu item at all. Try typing the name of the program into a console to start it.
root@khuram:/home/makh#poweriso
but this is not strongly recommended. Why?
You do have root privileges. You just need to use the sudo or gksudo commands.

If you created a root user during install you may have some problems using it. It is automatically created anyway so I'm surprised it let you make another. This account is disabled (i.e. no way to log in as root) by default. However, it exists and is vital to your system working. If you also created a root account then there may be some conflicts. You can look under system - admin - users and groups to see what's up. There should be a root account there. Don't mess with it. Changing how root works will totally bork your system. Use sudo. See the link above for the rationale behind using sudo. In short, it's more secure.

Hello again..
You can run it from wherever you have the poweriso file. So after you download and extract you should have a file called 'poweriso'. From command line if your in your home directory and so is the poweriso file you downloaded and extracted type:
