Speedtrap Ride Tuesday June 2nd recap
Although there was a slight ENE wind, nice weather(no rain) brought twenty-three hardy cyclists to Elmore Tuesday night for the latest Speedtrap Ride.
The Ghost Pepper Rider, led by Scott Lang, and the Cayenne Pepper Riders, led by Doug Metzger, rode as one group and returned to Elmore with a 22.0 mph average.
Ken South gathered enough riders to form a healthy Habanero group, and Ken reported a 20.4 mph average.
Candy Langoria, substituting for Andy Gundlach, led the Jalapeno Riders to a 17.4 mph average, as reported by Buddy Butler(real name Craig). Thank you Candy.
Claude Watkins and Ben Durant broke off to form the Sweet Pepper Riders. Claude reported a 16.1 mph average.
After the ride, several gathered in front of the bike shop for drink and good conversation.
There were no new Speedtrap Riders this week. However, John Del Toro(pictured), a regular Speedtrap Rider in the past, made his first appearance in over a year. Welcome back John!
Also pictured is Ghost Pepper Rider leader Scott Lang, in the kitten jersey, with fellow rider George Byington. Scott is celebrating a birthday this week! Happy Birthday Scott!
The next chapter of the Speedtrap Ride will be next Tuesday, June 9th. Although the forecast calls for a high temperature of 83 degrees and a south wind of 12 mph, the is a 60% chance of rain in the morning and afternoon. Let’s hope any rain is gone by ride time!
Unlike some other area rides, the Speedtrap Ride takes cyclists on quiet country roads in Ottawa, Sandusky, and Wood Counties. From many parts of the Toledo metro area, Elmore is not really farther than Whitehouse. It just seems farther because it’s in another county.
In addition, for those of you who think the Speedtrap Ride is too fast for you….The Sweet Pepper Riders, who ride at a more casual pace, are getting lonely. They need some company to join them on the ride. That could be you!
So why not give the Speedtrap Ride a try! Sign-in begins at 6:00 in front of the bike shop. I hope to see you then!
