Speedtrap Ride Tuesday May 12th recap
Eighteen riders came to Elmore last night for the first actual official Speedtrap Ride of the 2026 season. The skies were cloudy and gloomy. The air was relatively cool, and a few drops of rain did fall now and then. However, there were no complaints. All seemed to enjoy their rides.
Scott Lang and Doug Metzger combined the Ghost Pepper Riders and Cayenne Pepper Riders into one group. Doug reported an average of 21.5 mph on his return.
Ken South led a group of Habanero Riders and returned with an average of 20.3 mph.
There were only three remaining riders. They formed a combined Jalapeno/Sweet Pepper group. Marty Extejt reported a 17.2 mph average on their return to Elmore.
Good News: Andy Gundlach, last year’s Jalapeno leader, although slightly under the weather this week, will be returning as Jalapeno leader for the season!
Pictured are the entire group before leaving Elmore. Also pictured is perennial TAB member, rider, and former TAB president with his new Trek Madone. He had to get a new bike so the color would match his new red truck!!!!
Also pictured are some Ghost Pepper Riders and Cayenne Pepper Riders on the road. Thank you Todd Pollock for that photo!
Please join us next Tuesday, May 19th, for the next chapter of the Speedtrap Ride. The long-range forecast for next Tuesday calls for a high temperature of 83 degrees, a 50% chance of scattered thunderstorms[That’s a 50% chance of no thunderstorms!] with a southwest wind of 17 mph. Sign-in begins at 6:00 in front of Spoke Life Cycles in Elmore, Ohio. I hope to see you then.
