Speedtrap Ride Tuesday May 12th
The first actual official Speedtrap Ride of the 2026 Season will take place tomorrow, Tuesday, May 12th.(Last week was rained out) Riders will depart Spoke Life Cycles in Elmore, Ohio, at 6:30 pm.
There will be five groups:
\ Scott Lang will lead the Ghost Pepper Riders on a 25-mile course, with an average speed of 22+/- mph. Are you up to the challenge!!??
Doug Metzger will lead the Cayenne Pepper Riders over the same course at a slightly slower speed, 20 – 22 mph.
Ken South will take out his Habanero Riders, again over the same course, and will likely average 19 – 20 mph.
The Jalapeno Riders usually average 16 to 19 mph. A ride leader is still needed for this group.
All others who would like to ride a more casual pace will be the Sweet Pepper Riders, and will likely ride a 20 to 22 mile course.
The weather for tomorrow’s ride appears to have less than a 20% chance of rain at ride time, with a temperature in the mid to upper 60s. There will be southerly winds at about 10 mph, with occasional gusts a little stronger.
The Speedtrap Ride is a joint venture of the Toledo Area Bicyclists(TAB) and the Flatlanders Bike Club. The course goes over lightly traveled country roads. It’s a great way to ride with some great people.
Sign-in begins at 6:00 in front of the bike shop. I hope to see you then.
