Speedtrap Ride Tuesday July 14th recap
The Speedtrap Ride brought seventeen hardy cyclists to Elmore Tuesday evening for its latest chapter.
Although five groups make up the Speedtrap Ride, many riders changed their group, formed their own group, or paired up to accommodate their riding that evening.
Doug Metzger, who rode with the Ghost Pepper Riders, reported a 22.0 mph average.
Dave Stover and Mike Grillis formed what turned out to be the Cayenne Pepper Riders, and reported a 21.0 mph average.
Ken South, leader of the Habaneros, slowed to join a slower group and had an 18.7 mph average.
Andy Gundlach, leader of the Jalapenos, reported starting out with nine riders in a double paceline, then losing two riders and formed a single paceline. His average on the group’s return was 18.4 mph.
Not sure what group John Galdeen was in but he reported an average of 17.7 mph on his return.
Claude Watkins was the only Sweet Pepper Rider. He returned with a 15.0 mph average.
Several riders gathered outside the bike shop after the ride for drink and good conversation.
Pictured are some Speedtrap Riders before leaving Elmore, and some Jalapeno Riders on the road. Thank you Andy Gundlach for those photos.
The long-range weather forecast for next Tuesday, July 21st, calls for variable cloudiness, a 60% chance of scattered thunderstorms, a high temperature of 87 degrees, and a WSW wind of 10 to 20 mph.
Next Tuesday will be s’mores night after the ride, sponsored by the Flatlanders Bike Club. Don’t miss this!
Sign-in will begin at 6:00 in front of the bike shop. I hope to see you then!
