Can be used for paternity and maternity assignment and outperforms conventional methods where closely related individuals occur in the pool of possible parents. The method compares the genotypes of offspring with any combination of potentials parents and scores the number of mismatches of these individuals at bi-allelic genetic markers (e.g. Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms). It elaborates on a prior exclusion method based on the Homozygous Opposite Test (HOT; Huisman 2017 ) by introducing the additional exclusion criterion HIPHOP (Homozygous Identical Parents, Heterozygous Offspring are Precluded; Cockburn et al., in revision). Potential parents are excluded if they have more mismatches than can be expected due to genotyping error and mutation, and thereby one can identify the true genetic parents and detect situations where one (or both) of the true parents is not sampled. Package 'hiphop' can deal with (a) the case where there is contextual information about parentage of the mother (i.e. a female has been seen to be involved in reproductive tasks such as nest building), but paternity is unknown (e.g. due to promiscuity), (b) where both parents need to be assigned, because there is no contextual information on which female laid eggs and which male fertilized them (e.g. polygynandrous mating system where multiple females and males deposit young in a common nest, or organisms with external fertilisation that breed in aggregations). For details: Cockburn, A., Penalba, J.V.,Jaccoud, D.,Kilian, A., Brouwer, L., Double, M.C., Margraf, N., Osmond, H.L., van de Pol, M. and Kruuk, L.E.B. (in revision). A registrar is an authorized retailer of domain names. In order to be able to offer domain names for registrations, Registrars must be certified by ICANN. Registrars charge customers retail prices for domains and then pay the domain registry the difference. In addition to domain names, most registrars offer additional services like website hosting, website building, eCommerce stores, email, Internet marketing, and other value-added services. For a list of .hiphop registrars, click here.
The registrant pays an annual registration fee to the registrar to have the right to use the domain name during the registration period. Domain name annual registrations can be purchased for up to 10 years at a time. Registrants must pay the annual subscription fees to their registrar to maintain ownership of their domains. Failure to renew the registration can result in a loss of ownership of the domain name.
A domain registry is basically the wholesaler of a TLD. Dot Hip Hop, LLC is the Registry Operator for .hiphop. We maintain the database of all .hiphop domain names. Those domain names are then offered to the public for registration by domain registrars
Since the early 1970s, Hiphop has become the most influential artistic, educational and social movement for youth and young adults. From The Hiphop Archive and Research Institute's inception in 2002 under the direction of Professor Marcyliena Morgan, students, faculty, artists, staff and other participants in Hiphop culture have been committed to supporting and establishing a new type of research and scholarship devoted to the knowledge, art, culture, materials, organizations, movements and institutions of Hiphop. In response to this exciting and growing intellectual movement The Hiphop Archive and Research Institute serves to organize and develop collections, initiate and participate in research activities, sponsor events and acquire material culture associated with Hiphop in the U.S. and throughout the world.
It is now 50 years since the genre's entrance onto the urban landscape and Hiphop continues to be supported, protected and scrutinized by those who created it. In the process, it has become an uncompromising prism for critique, social and political analysis and representation of marginalized and underrepresented communities throughout the world. The Hiphop Archive and Research Institute curates all forms of Hiphop material culture including recordings, videos, websites, films, original papers, works, references, productions, conferences, meetings, interviews, publications, research, formal proceedings, etc. Material is collected according to particular themes and research initiatives. While the Archive is a record of all specific-to-Hiphop activity, ranging from local to international, it also incorporates all of the activities that have developed within and in response to Hiphop. These include academic courses, arts and community organizations, underground performances and venues, spoken word, political organizations, religious programs and much more.
The Hiphop Archive and Research Institute's mission is to facilitate and encourage the pursuit of knowledge, art, culture and responsible leadership through Hiphop. We are uncompromising in our commitment to build and support intellectually challenging and innovative scholarship that both reflects the rigor and achievement of performance in Hiphop as well as transforms our thinking and our lives. Toward these goals, our website: hiphoparchive.org provides information about all of our activities and projects and serves as a resource for those interested in knowing, developing, building, maintaining and representing Hiphop.

The journal provides a platform for the investigation and critical analysis of hip hop politics, activism, education, media practices and industry analyses as well as manifestations of hip hop culture in all four of the classic elements (DJing/turntablism, MCing/rapping, graffiti/street art and b-boying/b-girling/breaking and other hip hop dances), and the under-examined realms of beatboxing, fashion, identity formation, hip hop nation language (HHNL) and beyond.
As a sociolinguist, she specialized in the hip hop and rap of the Balkans and Finland. In addition to her vast research interests, she also taught numerous courses on her areas of expertise at the University of Helsinki.
