Flatcar AMIs not available / not launchable

Hi,

we're currently facing an issue with the release of the latest stable release (2905.2.0) on AWS EC2.

We've launched some instances on Thursday/Friday with these AMIs, but now they seem to be retracted.

The images referenced on https://kinvolk.io/docs/flatcar-container-linux/latest/installing/cloud/aws-ec2 are NOT available anymore on EC2:

The same applies to the AMIs in other regions (e.g. eu-west-1).

Would be nice to know the reason as older releases (2765.2.2, eu-central-1, ami-03c52ea5d6f9f7d37) are failing to launch with:

Failed trying to describe product codes for snapshot '47766279361'

Having the same problem in us-west-1 ami-01687a29be800de16 is not available.

This is a major issue because if an instance of the autoscaling group is deleted/terminated we cannot provision a new server.

Can someone please look into this?

Hi,

+1 also seeing this problem in us-west-2 for AMI ami-08b0dbd7ab8eee76a. In general, only spot-checked a couple, but the AMIs on https://kinvolk.io/docs/flatcar-container-linux/latest/installing/cloud/aws-ec2/ are having the same problem of being deregistered or not visible. Provisioning in terraform is failing as a result for us.

Since others are also affected by this: We've workaround it using the AWS Marketplace AMI for Flatcar Stable (https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/pp/prodview-2hdonbnvl3s4c). You need to subscribe to it first, though.

The Flatcar Container Linux AMIs became unavailable because the AWS
Flatcar Linux account was suspended. We are not sure why, but we are
working with the AWS team to find out what happened to avoid this in
the future. The account has now been reinstated and we have now
republished all AMIs [1].
