Thought I would start a thread for features that might be nice to have.   Sorry to give you more work !

It would be nice if text could just be engraved rather than isolated.   I realise that there is no way to determine which is text just from the Gerber file and without forcing people to generate another separate layer on their PCB, you could just draw a box around it and ask for it to be engraved rather than isolated.   I would be happy to engrave it with the current isolate tool width setting.

As to engrave text... that is very specific. Maybe I can add a feature to create text geometry that can then be converted to g-code the usual way. But will have to add to the bottom of the wish list. Maybe a feature to engrave inside Gerber polygons in general would be useful. It already can engrave outside polygons, so inside wouldn't be a big deal. For now maybe you can save a separate Gerber file with your text and in FlatCAM create isolation with a NEGATIVE tool width. That will offset inwards and give you somewhat the result you are expecting.

I think the text engrave issue could best be solved by simply engraving along the centre of the polygon given that most text is simple single width lines.   You don't want a separate layer, you just want to add the text engrave path to the isolate path when generating the CNC path.   With a negative tool width you will get the path traced twice.

But, don't spend time on it, put it on the list.
