tumblr- positioning the player/ expanding

so what i want to do on my theme is, first of all position it somewhere other than the top left corner of my blog, keep it fixed in position there, and it would be nice if i could have it hidden and then appear when someone hovers their cursor over an image or something. i've seen it done on other blogs, so i know it's possible...... any help????
