Hello everybody..

I am sure that we are all settling down to our more mundane work life.. so just wanted to say ‘Hi’ and present some interesting stats which I calculated.

Over cup of coffee we were talking about the youtube hits we have till date.. and unfortunately its not as high as we initially thought. As of now, we have about 6429 hits .. a far below number than we initially thought. We can blame Mr. A.R.Rahaman for this as our video got tagged as having copyrighted songs from his Slumdog M movie. Hence we cannot play this video on any hand held devices. So we are losing out on all the smartphone users and tablet users out there.

Now here is the interesting bit . Our story came in as the cover story of Bangalore Mirror and see the stats below – which is a report dated as of Dec 23^rd, 2011 stating that BM reaches about 1.52 lakh readers every day.

So lets make some assumptions here –

1. BM just like what we are doing here, would have come up with this number based on the number of newspapers they sell everyday X an avg number of members in a household. So they get about 1.52 lakh readers a day

2. Since this is the cover story, even if somebody does not buy it, they can miss it if they go past a newspaper shop. This can also include the newspaper boys. So going by the readership details of TOI.. there are 5.19 lakh readers. So just the top 3 English Newspapers have 8.66 lakh readers a day. Going by an avg of 3 readers / household, it translates to 2.88 lakh English newspapers a day. Again.. reports on newspaper boys say that they delivery an avg of 400 newspapers a day. So this means around 720 newspaper boys have also seen the cover page of BM ( since they should be having atleast 1 copy to carry around that day ).

So 1.52 lakh readers of BM who read our cover story + 720 paperboys who carried around our BM copy that day+ 6429 youtube hits = 159149

This is not counting the number of people who saw our TV9 news report and also listened to FM 104 on the 20^th, when Asha talked about the Flash Mob that happened that evening and not taking into account the online readers of BM. So the point is that we have reached to many many more people than we think we have thro our event.

Now.. seriously.. I am sure that you folks think that I am jobless here. I Just took a 30 mins break from the routine to get some fun out of life. Back to work folks.. cya.
