Has anyone gotten a chance to try out the remote play of their Xbox games on the Legion Go? How viable is it? I know you can't play your previously purchased Xbox games on PC and the Go is Win11, but should still be able to do remote play. Does it run well?
Yes, it's pretty viable, but it mostly depends on your internet connection. My Xbox Series S is connected to 5ghz wifi and achieves about 250mbps on download, which is almost maximum speed of xbox's wifi. By the way, there are games which can be installed on both pc and Xbox. For example, I've bought forza horizon 5 on my PC and I can install it on Xbox. Such games are marked with label "Xbox play anywhere" and you can find the list of games on Xbox site
Good morning Smokescreen! Remote play works great for me but I also have wired series x with gig speed. If you remote play on your Xbox/legion go you should be able to play all you games in your library. I think what you may be talking about is xcloud and or gamepass which also work well but do have latency issues. I even have these when playing a game and the screen refreshes when moving around. The remote play for ps5 has better latency but the visuals are not as good as Xbox. Xbox is supposedly using the series s hardware for xcloud and they're planning on upgrading to the series x hardware so it should make the latency and visuals a little better. Hopefully this info clears up things for you.
As the previous two stated, it's definitely possible to remote play on the Go! Highly dependent on your internet as far as reliability and stability of the games go, but it has worked great for me so far. My xbox is connected to wifi and I'm sure a hardwire would work better, but I have no complaints yet!
Hello, recently my Sims 4 game does not open when I click on one of my save files when playing on the Xbox using remote Play. I play on my laptop and use the Xbox companion app for remote Play. I connected to the same file on my TV where I originally played the Sims 4, and when I did the lighting wasn't working, as well as some of the objects like the scarecrow, chickens, and llama being black. What is happening?
I am lucky enough to have an XBox Series X and a PS5 and a good iPad so was excited to play remotely with it. However apart from initially after getting the consoles my connection has been poor to the point they are unplayable.
Either one works perfectly fine on the TV but trying to play on an iPad or through a browser on a good laptop and they perform so badly. After checking on multipl devices (both consoles and the device I try to play through) the only thing I can think of is that it is wifi related.
@AlarmingMallard Every network jump adds latency especially where wifi is concened and you have multiple jumps from issuing a command, the console receiving and executing that command and sending back the video. Even worse if the game itself is running on a remote server. Although each jump is probably a few ms these add up and can ruin game play assuming everthing works as it should
All the gamers I know do not use wifi at all as the risk of packet loss from interference is too high and only use ethernet which eliminates that risk. You are multiplying that risk because you have these extra steps. There is also any delay the router introduces if it is busy, Sky hubs lack anyway to prioritise gaming traffic you need a better specified unit with QOS that can do that.
I have an Xbox Series X here connected by ethernet and 250/50Mbps connection over G.fast, it works perfectly and I recommend you ditch the wireless method using ethernet for gaming. But I do play games over wireless myself using an Asus XT8 wireless router and Windows laptop but the router is close range and on 802.11ax standard and that works well also.
I should have said that the XB is actually connected via ethernet to the hub. Still, though, the streamed connection from that and the PS5 via wifi to my iPad or laptops are laggy and choppy. It was that fact that made me suspect it was something wifi related.
@AlarmingMallard QOS is Quality of Service which means the router can prioritise traffic that is time critical like gaming where there are other users of data. Routers which offer that are normally over 200 up to 400. You get a lot of other features for thst money like far better wifi. The Freebie routers given away by ISPs are built to a price and are very basic in comparison.
I am not a keen gamer so can't recommend one but Netgear, Asus and TP-Link each have models TP-Link. However trying to remotely game is always going to be more prone to issues than playing on the console direct especially if that is hard wired and should be limited to casual games where higher latency is not critical.
The Game Pass Ultimate catalog features all of the best Xbox games, from early classics like Halo: Combat Evolved (2001) to brand new titles including Far Cry 6 and Rise of the Tomb Raider. Cloud gaming offers gamers instant access to a huge catalog of games, many of which are optimized for select Android devices (Android OS 6.0 and later) as well as iPhones (iPhone iOS 14.4 and later). PC users need to ensure that their devices have Windows 10/11, version 19H1 or higher, while MacBook users require MacOS 14.1.2 and later.
Cloud gaming, while offering the flexibility to play endless games without worrying about filling up your storage, does not currently support local multiplayer. When it comes to cloud gaming with Game Pass Ultimate, players will require a few extra tools to play on their existing devices. These include an Xbox Bluetooth-enabled controller, or other supported controller as well as the Xbox Game Pass app and a 5 GHz Wi-Fi network connection, or Ethernet connection.

You can now play Xbox games via remote play with touchscreen controls. These are the same controls as offered with Xbox Cloud Gaming. Most games support basic touch-control layouts. Over a hundred games support custom controls, including Psychonauts 2, Sea of Thieves, and Minecraft Dungeons.
In other control news, a new thumbstick calibration tool has been added to Xbox. You can use the tool to address minor thumbstick issues, like inconsistent responses. Bigger issues, like drift for example, cannot be fixed with this tool. You should also recalibrate your controller if you repair it yourself.
The "My Games And Apps" now has new filters and sorting options. You can now filter games by supported languages, and accessibility/technical features, like touch controls. In the subscriptions tab, you can now sort games by "recently added," making it easier to find out what was just added to Game Pass or EA Play.
Additionally, a new "restrict access" option has been added to assist-share consoles in hospitals. This options allows profiles to be deleted on sign-out, making it easier for the console to be wheeled between rooms.
