I am a Tamilian and can only understand Malayalam to an extent, but have always been drawn to Malayalam songs, especially the melodious numbers. I shall try and pick my favourites from the 80s and early 90s(my knowledge of malayalam songs is mostly limited to that time period). The songs are in no particular order:1. Onnam Raagam Paadi from Thoovanathubikal- This is one of my all time favourites. So beautifully sung by Venugopal and Chitra. 2. Ponveene Ennulil from Thalavattom- Great singing by Sreekumar and Chitra. One of the sweetest songs I have ever heard!3. Pavizhampol Pavizhatharampol from Namukku Parkkan Munthiri Thopukkal- A beatiful number in a love classic(another Padmarajan movie). Great music by Johnson and great singing by KJY. 4. Paadam Pootha Kaalam from Chithram- Great song. 5. Poovarambin Thaazhe from Vidyarambam. Sung so masterfully by Chithra. . 6. Poothalam from Kalikaalam- Another Chithra song that I cannot omit from my top picks. Very very sweet song. 7. Pathira Paalkadavil from Chenkol- I like Sujatha's voice so much, but in this song, KJY simply seems to dominate with his majestic voice. This is such a beautiful melody from the great Johnson.8.
