I have spent all day trying to solve the iTunes showing my iPhone 12 as a device and allowing me to sync, move music around, etc. My PC is running Windows 11 Version 10.0.22621 Build 22621 and was updated this morning. The last time I was able to complete a sync was October of 2022. I have followed all of the advice on line: I have uninstalled/ reinstalled iTunes (12.12.10.1) several times from the Microsoft Store; I have connected my iPhone directly to my PC with a brand new Apple certified cable; I have checked to see if Apple Mobile Device Services is running (it isn't even there in Services no matter how many times i reinstall); etc. I run iTunes diagnostics and continue to get red dots for "iPod support services is not installed" no mater what I do.

The Microsoft Store version of iTunes is supposed to include all the necessary drivers for iTunes to communicate with a connected device. Sometimes, for some people, that doesn't seem to work. You may be better off removing the version of iTunes that you got from the Microsoft Store, and then install using the alternative standalone installer:

For reasons that are unclear the iTunes installer may fail to install or update specific components such as Apple Application Support or Apple Mobile Device Support, even when undertaking a "clean" install such as that described above in Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components. In such cases it may help to extract the individual components from the downloaded iTunesSetup.exe, itunes6464setup.exe oriTunes64Setup.exe file using a utility such as 7-Zip, then install the appropriate .msi file for the missing/outdated component.

Downloading from Apple did get Apple Mobile Devices Services add to Services & Bonjour is now present. However my phone is still not recognized by iTunes and, I can no longer see my iPhone as a drive in File Explorer. When I run the diagnostics in iTunes I now get a red mark beside "iTunes Helper is not running". I went into Services and made sure Apple Mobile Devices Services is running, made sure it was set to Automatic, and stopped and restarted it. I reran diagnostics and got the same result.

Driver is not called MTP USB Device. There are 6 drivers files listed under Portable Devices/Apple iPhone. In addition, under Universal Serial Bus Devices there are multiple file listings for Apple Mobile Device USB Composite Device and Apple Mobile Device USB Device.

Saw a solution in an earlier version of iTunes .. version 11. However, following the same steps in iTunes version 12.9.1.4 I do not see a notifications under General. Looked around and did not see any notifications management. My question is how do I turn off the windows popup which occurs whenever a new song starts?

I try to copy the .ipa and drag it but it just doesn't appear? When I copy the file, click on the edit button in the menu bar, all the options are greyed out even though I had copied the .ipa? Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

This no longer works in iOS15 and the latest itunes. Although it will copy your app over, on your iphone it starts installing then says "must be installed from app store." If the app is no longer there in the store, it will not install and the app will be useless (Showing with the cloud download button, which won't work).

I installed an iOS app (.ipa file) on my iPad using iTunes for PC (with Windows 10 21H2).The iPad's UDID is listed in Apple Developer Console list of devices. So it is a Developer test ipa for a test device.I've connected the iPad to the PC after iTunes was started and was able to install the ipa by dragging it to iTunes and dropping it on the left lower "On my Device" pane.I started iTunes after the iPad was connected to the PC and was able to install the ipa by dragging it to iTunes and dropping it on the left lower "Devices" pane.

Neither drag-and-drop or right-click paste worked for me.But Ctrl-V worked. Copy the .ipa file (normal Ctrl+C) from File Explorer, go to iTunes on the device's page, Paste with Ctrl+V and the app start to install.

Hello. I have a third-generation iPad with iOS 9.3.5, and I tried the method of copying and pasting the Atari Greatest Hits app to be able to use it with the accessory that was sold, however, the app appears on the home screen, but it is "installed" up to an average of 1/4 of the download, or even 1/2, but it goes up to that point and soon after the app stops installing and soon after disappears from the home screen. Does anyone know what the reason for the conflict might be? I really need this app.

I found that doesn't work - I had seen your previous post about it and tried that but had no luck with it constantly trying to get me to go through the Microsoft store. When it says there is an update available and you click to update it opens a web browser page and that page when you click on the update takes you to the Microsoft store.

I downloaded the Microsoft 64-bit through the link you just shared yesterday actually but because they are not the most update to date itunes once you've downloaded it and go to open itunes you get the same issue because it will say the version you're using is out of date.

Earlier I was able to see my iPhone in My Computer (Windows 8) and browse the photos on it. However, since unplugging it and reconnecting the device the iPhone no longer pops up in My Computer, despite iTunes seeing and syncing with the phone just fine.

But still have the problem. I've powercycled the phone and my PC several times, made sure Apple Mobile Device Support is installed, stopped and restarted the AMDS, verified that the USB driver is there, verified both the phone's software and my version of iTunes are the most recent (and powercycled each after each update) but have had no luck getting the phone to appear in My Computer. Any help?

Well, like I said in my original post, I already did all that. But for good measure I did it all again and still no luck. It does successfully reinstall the driver which causes iTunes to launch but it does not fix the My Computer not seeing the phone.

Well, those are not the exact measures in the link you provided, but similar. If you are not getting it to work from there, the only other option is to remove iTunes and other Apple components and reinstall. You would need to do that by following this support document exactly, or else it won't work.

One other point. If the photos in your Camera Roll have already been imported to the computer, you will not get the AutoPlay popup. Also, if you have a passcode on the phone, if the phone is not unlocked before you attempt to connect it to the computer it will not always allow you to get to the Import photo AutoPlay popup.

I uninstalled all Apple software as the guide directed. While the software was not on my PC at all (all drivers/programs removed) I plugged the iPhone in to charge while I downloaded iTunes. At this point my computer could see the iPhone fine. I could browse the folders and all that jazz.

"Great, now just to get iTunes back!" I think to myself. Well, now that iTunes is reinstalled it's doing the exact same thing: Showing up in iTunes but not in My Computer. Anyone know what could be causing such a strange occurrence?

You have a driver issue. Did you have the phone plugged in when you reinstalled iTunes? That might have corrupted the driver install since it seems your computer tried to install something after you removed all of the Apple software. You didn't mention to removed the software before, that is why I suggested it. You also did not indicate that you had plugged the phone into the computer. Also, the only folder you can browse on the computer with the phone connected is the DCIM folder and its subfolders, where photos are contained. There is no access to any other part of the file system on the iPhone, unless the device is jailbroken.

Literally have been trying to get MyComputer to recognize my iPhone for hours now. Thank you a ton for your simple suggestion of having the phone unlocked before plugging it in!! Hope this tip continues to hold up in the future. Thanks again!

Unfortunately, this windows can not connect the device to iTunes message. So I wasn't able to prepare a backup version of my device on the iTunes software. the iTunes has a Message that devices can not connect to the iTunes software.

Yes, this is helpful....very. I am an IT professional...went thru all the hoops on the web (update drives, uninstall iTunes...). I had updated my my OS to the new windows 10 feature pack that came out in 8/2016 Friday morning and noticed the new IOS update to 10 on Friday night. Try to do everything my users do before they do it. Found that it is a new feature in IOS 10 I guess, the phone can sync, but windows cannot access the photo storage unless the phone is unlocked. Thanks Apple for all the notice of this feature. I guess I expect that as they would like me to put my contents in the "iCloud".

I'm an IT professional and had a client with the same problem, turned out i had it too personally, so I went home and looked everywhere and out of everyone on the internet, no one could give me the answer to this problem, where the iPhone would show in iTunes but not in windows 10 or viscera. with a strike of luck I've developed the answer ?
