I tried running the CheckUp application to and that failed my graphics card saying it has too little RAM. Really? I run high end racing simulation on 3 monitor in full 3D at 144Mhz. The NVidia system information is reporting 12256MB total available graphics memory.

Visual Studio Tools for Universal Windows Apps 14.0.25527.01
The Visual Studio Tools for Universal Windows apps allow you to build a single universal app experience that can reach every device running Windows 10: phone, tablet, PC, and more. It includes the Microsoft Windows 10 Software Development Kit.

I have VS2017 installed and was initially frustrated and then finally decided to look further; saw this and used 7zip to extract SketchUpMake-en-x64.exe into a directory and finally used the *.msi installer with success!

Confirm. I found the sketchup* .msi in the temp folder and cut it from there. Something is wrong with the installer offered on sketchup homepage. It gives the Visual C++ 2014 Runtime invitation but windows does not let that as it is already installed. (win 10 x64 home). People should use the .msi file. it just works.

I have just tried to install sketchup pro 2018. It gave me the same above error. I just tried to unistall the programs and window to me there are not on the computer. I also tried to install the program and it would not install. I am under a deadline and need this to run. it is not my choice program and i have a midterm project due tuesday. please help me to get sketchup installed. I just got my computer back today after some major problems.

When I try to import the sketchup file into max i get the error "X32 reader terminated unexpected" I have tried importing to 3ds max design 2013 and 2014 and used different sketchup versions and also files as simple as a box. everytime i get the same error, does anybody have an idea?

I know about using Sketchup 8 and this is not a Sketchup version problem. Import fails from models created by SU 8 (and all earlier versions as well).

It's definitely something about the revit models themselves. What I don't know. Some revit models generate this error and some don't. Its not how large the model is (small ones fail and big ones don't sometimes) and its not phasing information. And its not the DWG version thats exported (it happens when Revit exports acad 2013, 2007 and 2004 formats). I'm at a loss here.

Dwg export from Revit 2015 > imported into Sketchup Pro 2014 saved down to SU8 format > inported into 3ds Max Design 2015.

The problem occurs on import into 3DS with some but not all files. Size doesn't seem to matter (some big ones work, some small ones don't) and I've tried every settings permutation I can think of (saving as dwg 2013, 2007, and 2004 from Revit and saving as 7, 8 and 2014 from sketchup). None of it makes no difference. Its got to be a setting or soemthing in the Revit file itself.

I know this is a complicated fringe case but I really need to make this work. Embellishing/changing, adding details to models in sketchup is ten times quicker than trying tro add all that detail directly in Revit.

So contrary to the things which were stated in the SDK readme, Trimble seemed to have left the functionality intact. So downloading the most recent SDK version from Trimble , replacing the DLL immediatly gives you Sketchup 2015 import functionality in Max 2014/2015 !!

I had a file from Sketchup 2015 that I couldn't load into 3ds Max 2015, receiving the same error as in the OP. Tried saving to Sketchup 8 (and 7, and every version up to the latest) and none would load into Max 2015.

Spacefrog, I tried your suggestion and found that in the SDK the path to the DLL has changed - there's now x64 and an x86 versions. Strangely, even though my Max install is x64 the x86 DLL worked better... But it still didn't work. The files would almost load (and wouldn't start unless I told it to not import hidden geometry), but then fail with the same message. (Whereas the x64 DLL caused the import process to not start in the first place - it acted like the DLL was missing or something.)

The file I am having troubles with is a Sketchup file that was originally a Revit import. I tried the solution outlined by spacefrog with both the x64 and x86 and neither work. I've attached a screenshot of the error message.

I import my models in chunks (site, exterior, interior, etc...) which are all inside one Sketchup file. The site imported fine but the exterior will not import. I'm thinking the geometry might be a problem so I'm messing around with exploding and saving down to SU versions 8 and 7, so far no luck.

It should be able to install both - did you sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386 when installing Wine? I've kind of stopped doing that.. if it complains about it, then I'll run it for 32bit apps but normally, I just install the Win app support in Software Center and, good-to-go.. I've been doing that since eh, Ubuntu 8? long time.. *Not an instruction lol

Have you also installed Gecko and Mono for your Wine version? That could be an issue.. I've also got .Net4.8 installed on top of both Mono and Gecko; may be a little redundant but I don't have many issues - unless it's something super proprietary. The .Net4.8 install covers 4.0 and up, by the way - make sure to get it from the WineHQ downloads page here. Mono, Gecko - easier instead of searching Just make sure you get the corresponding version for your Wine version!

And of course it's paid stuff so I can't try it out myself lol But - give the .Net, Mono, and Gecko a try - most definitely get vsredist if you need it; install all of them through winecfg OR wine uninstaller the uninstaller app has an Install button to add .exe's.

Compared to Sketchup Make, the browser version is a complete dead end. PlayOnLinux has only Support for Sketchup 8 which is ancient (from 2010) and 2018 which requires a paid Licence. Tried installing 2018 through POL and the installation even didnt started.

Hmm, i installed the Windows App Support from the software center. However the mainproblem is that the sketchup-installer just vanishes after all files all are extracted. Normally the next installation window (as you can see here should open but nothing happens.
Installed are .NET 4.8 and Vicual C++ 2015 Redistributable.

I don't have the time at the moment to try it out and see what works on my side. I see with Wine 6 via WineHQ the sketchup version is 2017, which I can't find a download to - might be why it's crashing on me, I got a few of the newest and some of the older ones; only the .msi installer went through. But, won't start - keeps giving me errors on graphics, then changed that and gave errors on other stuff, didn't read what though..

Alright - tried both Nvidia and Intel settings, got a little further - errors on ntlm_auth, deals with 'winbind' make sure you have that installed. I got as far as fonts loading, watching in terminal running wine commands, and then failed - again. I have mscorefonts installed, not sure why it gave that error.

Some software is picky - a few apps I use won't even work with Wine or POL, bottles, or any of it; only Windows.. -sketchup-on-ubuntu.htm - That's a guide on an older version of SketchUp - newer ones may not be fully working yet. Definitely check the WineHQ site for working versions and Wine versions. I've only been truly successful with games lol..

So, Sketchup on A Linux OS - #6 by dnacadengineering - SketchUp - SketchUp Community - has some good info as well, apparently the 2018 version worked for one person very well on a newer Mint variant; still Ubuntu. Are you able to link a download to the 2017 version so I can try it out? It doesn't appear to be on their site for download.. But there are success stories I'm gonna get back on in a bit, see if I can find the 2017 version and give it another go. And did see some success from others using Play On Linux to get it going too.

I'm currently on Mint so, I'll have to grab the installer and take it to my Zorin machine to test. Am using the same available version of Wine in Mint - 6.0.3, with .NET4.8 and vcredist2015 - that's it. Already had winbind installed from other shtuff. And of course, Mono and Gecko..

That is SketchUp 2018 - random find when searching. It's just the trial so, I'm sure with an account, it will unlock when signed in. Did also get a pop-up saying 'new version available' and an option to download. The newer versions don't install, get some kind of 'wizard_not_found' with both; even the offline installer..

Yeah, can't blame you - especially the price, yeesh.. I just happened to find the 2018 installer online and tried it out. I saw something on their downloads page about a silent installer, didn't look into it though.
