Prosecutors in Florida plan on seeking the death penalty against the
husband of the Florida woman found dead in his storage unit. State
Attorney Andrew A. Bain announced 51-year-old Cory Hill was charged with
first-degree murder in the death of Shakeira Rucker during a Thursday
(January 18) press briefing, according to WESH 2.

Rucker, a 37-year-old mother of four who lived in Winter Springs,
disappeared on November 11 after she was last seen hanging out with Hill.
Orange County deputies discovered her body with gunshot wounds inside an
Apopka storage unit registered to her estranged husband. Investigators
with the sheriff's office believe Rucker was killed inside the storage
unit.

"We'll never have the chance to talk to her again," Dedra Rucker,
Shakeira's sister, said at the news conference. "Her children will never
be able to see her again. It's hard, it's hard."

Hill was arrested for a separate incident where he allegedly shot at his
ex-girlfriend and her family in Orange County. According to the former
girlfriend, she ended her relationship with Hill after speaking with
Rucker.

"Rucker had recently discovered her estranged husband had been in a
romantic relationship and living with another female," court documents
obtained by the news station read. "Rucker and the paramour learned they
had both been deceived by Hill."

The murder suspect was previously charged with four counts of attempted
murder, burglary, shooting at a building, and violation of a domestic
violence injunction. After Rucker's body was found, authorities charged
Hill with second-degree murder so he could be kept in custody until a
grand jury determined if a first-degree murder charge should be levied
against him.
