fl.media.tv
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. The fl.media.tv newsgroups will be exclusively for the posting of
information that specifically relates to TV topics within the state of
Florida.
2. If your posting relates to a specific station or program, PLEASE start
subject line with that info, including the market (city), if applicable.
For example:
o WFLX's (ch 29, WPB) 10 O'Clock News
o Captain Truth now on 2 Broward stations
o WMXJ (102.7, Miami) March Special Events
o Bahamian Radio Stations
o Did WDNA (Miami) increase power yet?
o Craig Crossman's WJNO (1230 kHz WPB) schedule.
o WBZT's Mike Miller now on Jacksonville station
o How far south can WDBO Orlando be heard?
o Con Cable's Choice of Stations Sucks!
3. If you want to discuss Friends or Pauly or Star Trek, please go to the
appropriate Big 8 group, unless there is an event in Florida relating to
the show. But if you want to discuss channel 10's Dwight Lauderdale sans
moustache <g>, what Tom Jicha said in his Sun-Sentinel TV column, or
maybe even WFTL's Dante DeAngelis -- this is the place!
4. Discussion of the following types are among those to be encouraged:
o Discussion about locally-produced radio and TV programming heard on
radio and TV stations (broadcast and cable) located in Florida.
o Discussion of a technical and professional nature about the business
and engineering side of the radio and TV business.
o Discussion similar to the above about stations NEAR Florida, such as
Bahamian and Cuban stations, that would not be relevant in newsgroup
such as rec.radio.shortwave.
o Discussion about the ham radio hobby, as it relates to Florida.
o Discussion about management, customer service, and choice of channels
at cable TV companies serving Florida.
5. Posting of the following types will be permitted, but no more than once
a week for any specific announcement:
o Announcements for web pages by broadcasters (i.e., TV and radio
stations and the producers of syndicated programs)
o Announcements of "fan" web pages.
o Announcements of special events sponsored by radio or TV stations or
by their programs.
o Announcements or discussion of LOCAL EVENTS relating to the above.
o Announcements of local meetings of fan clubs and ham radio clubs and
other similar events.
6. Posting of the following announcements will NOT be permitted:
o Postings to sell fan-related memoribilia, which belong in fl.biz. Or,
more likely, in fan-related groups in the big 8. (This would not
exclude announcements of Florida radio or TV-related web pages which
*incidentally* mention items for sale. Like if channel 7 were selling
Rick Sanchez Fan Club T-shirts on their page.)
o Crossposts from Big 8 groups about national TV and radio shows,
except to the extent that they ask what Florida stations carry such
shows. (Of course, such questions about network TV shows will usually
identify the posters as terminally clueless, but this information
will be valuable when dealing with syndicated shows, regional radio
networks, and coverage of special events. Some such questions may be
answered by the South Florida Radio Pages, at
http://www.univox.com/radio/)
