It is well known that 570 "Wins" (what a misnomer) is a haven for crooks and
quacks and has been for years. Alumni include Jan Weeks, now doing time in
the federal pen for threatening a federal judge among other things, and one
or two people who've had to give up their licenses. And 'Mister Chelation',
Donald Kerrough -- Need I say more? No reputable stockbroker needs to buy an
hour of time on the radio to drum up business, and no reputable marketer
needs 30 minutes to harangue people into buying his product. If people would
just assume that these "bought and paid for" talk shows are con games, they
would go away and the big radio corporations would -- heaven forbid! --
actually have to improve their bottom lines by going out and getting more
LISTENERS, instead of shaking every last penny out of the (dwindling) number
they currently have.

Yes. Tampa and St. Pete are full of vulnerable retirees and minimum-wage
phone operators who are prime candidates for the Jerry Springer show, not to
mention scam radio. Let's just say the median IQ is dangerously close to room
temperature. The crime is that scam radio has almost driven listenable talk
and news off the dial. The people who run that con game ghetto known as 570
are about to acquire 970, WFLA, the prime news-talk station in this area.
Even 620, which carries the sound portion of Bay News 9, is starting to sell
out to the quacks. Help!
