I wrote here last year asking for advice about planting some hibiscus at my
Jersey shore house, and I just want to thank those who offered assistance.
I planted two of them last fall and they're doing beautifully! So well in
fact, that I'm going to plant a few more. One final question (and I'm
wondering if there will be anyone here to answer because this ng seems to be
pretty dead), is there any special care I need to do to prepare them for the
winter months? Thanks.

V.

Stop wondering. We are not dead, just dormant, waiting for things to cool
off enough for us to get badk outside again.

That's so true, don't remember hating the heat as I do this year and my
gardens need some work

It was super hot and humid here for the past week, but when I woke up this
morning the temp was only 50! A bit too cool for my taste, especially in
August.

I've been growing a bunch of different things. Have had some
really amazing success growing corn. Mexican squirrels are
eating the corn though.

Some other things I'm working on include some Japanese
Cucumbers and they seem to be doing pretty good, except
for what I think Mexican squirrels that are trampling over
them.

A couple tomato plants have died on me, and I'm trying a
couple more from seed, as well as some lima beans, some bush
beans, some pole beans. I've had good success with hungarian
wax peppers. Some purple basil is growing well.

I'm having problems with belle peppers though. I've killed every
single one I've bought from the store in pots. I've got a feeling
that the belle peppers just can't stand to be put into clay pots and
need a lot of shade. The hungarian wax peppers need some shade
as well.

I'm in Tampa, FL.

Any instructions or help available with a squirrel problem ?

Any advice around for growing green belle peppers ?

They did well enough for me in the Atlanta area, but they are damaged by
very cold weather so covering them up when it gets below 20 would be good.

They also like a lot of water.
