Azaleas - especially natives
Camellias, Gardenias, Hydrangeas, lots of other native Florida flowering shrubs - check any good Florida gardening book

In the NorthWest, we have very acid soil, cool, damp, and lots of rain.
Rhododendrons, azaleas. and camellias are prolific here. Gardenia, japonica, and holly also do well
