I have avoided answering this one for over a week now. It seems I remember
from *something* I read that a browser will only use *one* scripting
engine - the first one on the page it can recognize. Of course - I have no
materials to reference on this point. But I suggest asking in the
scripting newsgroups this question for a more intelligent response : )

perhaps:
news:comp.lang.javascript
news:microsoft.public.activex.programming.scripting.vbscript
microsoft.public.activex.programming.scripting.jscript

Hope that helps you find the answer...

I do know for a fact that IE will handle both languages at a time. You can
have <script language="javascript">...</script> and <script
language="vbscript">..</script> on the same page, and function names and
variables will even be passed across to each other.

How do I know? I've done it, several times. I've needed to do it a few
times, in fact.
