an old, maybe odd idea and an urgent cry for help

Please. Help me.
I have got a problem. If you want to be good you try to help me to find
a/the mistake in the soon following text. It might seem that there is no
relationship to this newsgroup, but I ask you to help me, because I am not
far away from going crazy, because no one wants or can help me to explain me
the mistake in the following thoughts:
What I am thinking about is that all men have got needs and these needs have
to be satisfied.
To satisfy the needs there is work to be done.
Either by machine or men. So far, so good.
The more the technical progress steps forward the less men have to work. So
far, so good.
But in this case I always ask myself, why we have in spite of this fact as
many problems as we have.
Or should I better say, we have problems because of this fact?
I recognized a few ten years ago that all problems (pollution, unemployment
and "developing" countries) end all in the statement: "To solve this
problem, we have not enough money."
That seems to be a pity. Starvation kills over a few thousand people all
day all around this planet and that愀 a pity?
This is part of the reasons why I am nearly going crazy.
Another part is that I am SURE, I am convinced that the following is as
simple as it is is a solution:
If we determine the time we have to work to satisfy our needs (and a few
thousand hours more or less does not matter at all, because it will always
change) and divide them by the men we will come to a result, which will be
unbelievable low.
But there is a problem with it:
I cannot understand why we simply do not do it.
Is the problem that the work of someone must be better paid than the work of
another (maybe less skilled, because he/she is less "intelligent")?
If this is the only reason I am going insane.
If this is the only reason I do not want to live among these "intelligent"
people anymore.
Please help me to understand, please.

Time is running... at least for me and the men dying by starvation.
