I am doing a survey of special purpose image
processing platforms. From an associate, I
heard something about a machine or group
called Pixel Planes. I've been monitoring
this newsgroup for a while and haven't seen
anything regarding Pixel Planes.

If anyone has any info about them or where I
can get in contact with someone, please send
e-mail. Thanks.

There have been several papers in the SIGGRAPH proceedings (published
in the ACM journal _Computer Graphics_) about the pixel planes
architecture. From those papers you should get not only an idea of
the machine and how it works, but also the addresses of the authors.

Here is one paper I found in my proceedings:

Pixel Planes 5: A Heterogenous Multiprocessor Graphics System
Using Processor-Enhanced Memories, Henry Fuchs, John Poulton, John
Eyles, Trey Greer, Jack Goldfeather, David Ellsworth, Steve Molnar,
Greg Turk, Brice Tebbs, Laura Israel in Computer Graphics 23:3,
July 1989

Yeah, I've heard about this Pixel-Planes thing too. Can somebody
tell me something about it? What does it do? Can you do FFTs on it?
