Hi netters,
Recent downsizing at our plant (and I'm sure I'm not alone in this) has made
me the sys admin of a small number of Apollos - not by virtue of being
qualified, but by being the sole survivor. Sort of tag - you're it.
We recently inherited two 425s stations from a sister plant that I plan to use
as replacements for a DN3500 and a DN4500. The problem comes after reading and
re-reading the ACL section of the AEGIS system manager's manual, I still can't
seem to comprehend how to solve the problem. We are operating at Domain/OS
SR10.3, using Mentor Graphics software.
I have one of the 425s stations hooked into the token ring. When I move
directories and files from the 3500 to be replaced to the 425 (as root), the
ACL's are reset to rx. When I do the same thing from my own account, the ACL's
are prwx-. Then when I go to do a backup from the maint account, I get a
message of "insufficient rights". Yup, back to rx only.
Could one of you kind souls please tell me, in a how-to that even a bonehead
board designer could understand -), just what I need to do to change these
ACL's? Since I'm the only one, I'm not really concerned about the security
aspect of these things.
Many thanks in advance,
--
