In order to install a DVD/RAM copier/burner (Japanese domestic model), I
need to have the MS Unicode font (Arial Uni.TTF, 23,560 KB) in
order to install the hardware on an English system running Windows XP.
Microsoft does not provide the download of this font anymore since it is
included in the Japanese version of Windows XP... something which I do not
possess.
So far I have found several download sites, but they will always direct me
to the official Microsoft download page.

Does anybody have an idea where to download this font?
Without it, the text parts of the hardware installation appear as ????????.
And yes, I can presently read and write Japanese on my US WIN XP setup.
Any hint is appreciated.

You may well be able to read and write Japanese on your XPee computer but
did you select Japanese as the language for non-Unicode programs? You'll
find this setting on the Advanced sheet of the Regional and Language Options
setting in the Control Panel. Assuming that you already have the East Asian
Languages files installed from the previous sheet you should then have
Japanese as one of the options on the 'Language for non-Unicode programs'
drop-down menu.

After selecting Japanese you'll probably have to re-boot.

The Arial Unicode MS font 'should' have installed automatically when you
selected 'Install files for East Asian Languages'. However, if your program
still won't display in Japanese and you still need the Japanese fonts then
I'll ftp serve all my Japanese fonts for you. (reply to the group 'coz mail
gets dumped automatically)

To the entire Sumo family!!!
THANKS a lot and my sincerest apologies...
I just came back from a trip to Osaka. I am not a guy who is just sitting at
the receiver side... just not the fastest one.
Anyway, this MS Arial unicode font did the trick, and I am happy to proceed
with my new DVD/RAM burner...
Are you talking about cricket, football, or Whales against the Sharks?:-)

Sorry again...
