So,how do I make mp3s smaller in size without chopping them up?
I know how dumb this sounds but I'm retarded.

Thanks.

Remember though that any compression you do (ie. making them smaller), will
degrade the sound quality. And you will never be able to get that quality
back, unless of course you've got the original cd to rip again.

If it is a problem of storage space for them, just bite the bullet and
spend the money to increase the space you have for them.

If it is a problem of needing to make them smaller so your e-mail
doesn't get kicked back to you for having oversized attachments when
you e-mail them to someone, burn them to disk and put them in the
snail-mail.

Or there are programs that will let you resample them. I can't do it
now, but I'll put something up tomorrow if you really need it.

Changing bitrate was exactly what I wanted to do. Thanks all!

dBpowerAMP Music Converter (dMC) http://tinyurl.com/uye5 is basically the
dog's bollocks when it comes to music file conversion - and it's 100%
freeware and so far I've not heard of any spyware programs attached. When
installed it presents itself in the right-click menu so that existing
MP3/wav/WMA files can be resampled or converted - it's always on the list of
things I re-install after my regular six-month repartitioning, reinstalling
regime.
