Some do.
Some don't.
Does everybody practise it where you come from?
I suggest not to assume everything is cultural.
And assuming it "biological thing" sound absurd.

I do not mean this to be flame baiter post in the least. I realize
that this topic might touch a nerve with some the purists of this
group, if it does please don't read any further.

The reason I ask this question is that Japan is notorious for being
one of the most perverted countries in the world and yet when you walk
into a video store and stroll over to the adult section, we never see
any videos that have the theme anal sex. Just about every other theme
is covered except anal sex.

I was just wondering if this is a cultural thing, biological thing
etc. Any response is welcome.

I would agree with you here. Some do, some don't where I come from
too.
but my point is why are there no videos with the theme of anal sex.
Perhaps its prohibited by law? I don't know

It is not prohibited by law or anything.
Indeed, there are some videoes that feature anal sex, and if you take
a look at s&,m stories sold anywhere in book stores in Japan, you can
find anal sex sroties very often. One of the most popular authors
who writes about anal sex is Saiu Yuki.

I don't know about videos, but anal sex is a common topic in articles in
many porno mags found in the local convenience stores. The articles are
usually of the "how to" variety with lots of photos - the naughty bits
masked, of course.

I see the same thing in the US.

The only difference I noticed was,
Americans swear often but never talk about
dirty topics in public. Japanese talk about
dirty topics in public (needless to say, not
always).
