Richard Thieme, a long time participant of this group, has sadly
passed away after a long battle with leukemia. RIP.

Richard and I crossed paths in so many different venues that I hadn't
realized that we had this one in common, too. His work translating the
Japanese civil code in to English remains incomplete and his guiding
hand will be missed.

But, Declan, why did you wait so long to let people here know? I'd been
informed the weekend before the news appeared on NBR but didn't know who
had the official announcement. Come to think of it, I still don't know ...
