From tonight's "Trivia no Izumi" on Fuji TV... The McDonalds clown's name is
not Donald but Ronald.
Yes, I knew that, but I didn't know he was called Donald in Japan.

It's Ronald McDonald in the UK, and I assumed that this was the same
worldwide. Obviously not. Incidentally, the reason given for the name change
was simply that "Ronald" was difficult to pronounce for Japanese speakers.

I always figured that in the early days of McD's in Japan some
advertising/marketing/etc. exec mispronounced it, and nobody wanted to
tell him he said it wrong.
