Bound for Heathrow UK. Direct flight.

I used to get some very competitive rates from Map Tour. I'm sorry I don't
have their number with me.

Check the flights/companies/conditions on ABroad's webpage and go to JTB
with the details, passport, money or credit card. They can book you any
discount flight you indicate them, they don't use their brain enough to get
the idea of telling lies about
avaibility (which is the big game of the agents for gaigins.). You'll get
your reservation confirmed before your quit the shop and you'll pick up the
tickets at the airport. I also find them convenient because they have
agencies in most big cities in the world, and you just need a local phone
call to change your return reservation.
Discount deals may require booking 48 hours in advance, so maybe you'll have
to pay more than expected, whatever the agency. .

Sorry to hear your bad news.

Lufthansa are as good as direct to the UK - especially if in fact the South
East isn't exactly where you need to end up. 90 minutes at Frankfurt could
save you a bundle over a direct flight.

You can buy direct from them too, using a credit card. Freephone number is
0120-051-844 (24 hours) but call in normal office hours and you'll get the
local staff with the best knowledge; and explain your situation.

I always fly Lufthansa to Europe, and always buy direct. Admittedly with at
least 2 months notice, but try them.

It may be best to talk to the airlines directly. Some of them do offer
a highly discounted bereavement fare that may be better than anything
the agents can offer.

When I showed up at the JAL counter at Hakata Airport after my father died, they gave me the one year in advance
booking rate, which was 130,000 yen instead of 300,000. That was a good deal at the time.

http://tinyurl.com/2wfjg should be a start as far as airlines are concerned.
I always get discount travel shop numbers from the Daily Yomiuri but here's
another start http://tinyurl.com/2wfjg but there were 989 hits for a Travel
Agency search of Tokyo.

Good luck.
