I have been dealing with the same problem for about 2 months. I found a
company called Star Technology (303-680-7744) that is working on a DOS
socket services program. I was told to check back in the middle of August
for a release date.

Called Cardsoft, their current product only supports NT. Says their
older version, if you can find it, did support DOS.

A search through deja also yields PC DOS (not MS DOS) 6.2 as another
source.

If you happen to have an older Xirxom, Megahertz or Compaq PC Card, many of
these had (still posted on mfg's web sites) what were called "point
enablers". These were a single file which would enable a card in DOS
without having to load all the card services drivers. The trade off was
generally that the card wasn't plug and play with the point enabler and
power management wasn't possible. They sure were nice for saving memory in
DOS though!

I remember that there was a file called SETMHZ.EXE in the driver for the old
Megahertz (pre-3com buyout) which set the IRQ, mem location and the port for
DOS access.

Hope that helps.
