I have never spent more than £100 on a camera before, but now want to buy my
first digital. I have about £400-£450 to spend and have been looking at the
Olympus C50Zoom and C750Zoom. Both have similar price tags but the C750 has
a 10x Zoom as opposed to 3x. Is the C750 lacking something?

I am not sure which manufacturers are the best, are they pretty much the
same or do you tend to pay for the name somtimes?

Should I choose a camera with a particular type of memory (don't wan to buy
the betamax equivalent).
The problem I am finding is I have too much choice and very little idea. Any
help would be most welcome.

Many Thanks Anthony.......

Yup. Also sites like: http://www.steves-digicams.com/hardware_reviews.html
and others. BTW that's a 10x Optical zoom right? nice! And with the 1K
shutter speed (at f3.7) to actually be able to use it too. AND a 3CM Macro...

Nice lens design! Skip the c-50

Check this Quote:

The C-750 Ultra Zoom features a bright, high performance f2.8 - f3.7
lens, comprising of 11 elements arranged in seven groups and including
two aspherical lenses plus ED elements, which are only found in top-end
SLR cameras and significantly help reduce chromatic aberration.

It's got hot shoe too...

The C-50 has 5mega-pixels as opposed to 4 in the 750 but lacks in almost every
other area. No manual White Bal. No Manual Focus. Etc.

Besides 4Megapixels is plenty IMO. ;) <---Famous last words.
