If you are really interested in digital photography, please realize that most
of the fun is in processing your pics. A decent software program is
imperative. Photoshop Elements will do everything you need unless your into
graphis arts or web design. Than you should consider Photoshop 7.0,

For your basic image editing, all you need is a very simple app, like HP
photo editor or Irfanview. Both are free. I have Photoshop-5 and still use
Irfanview. It does color correction, sharpening, cropping, etc. Opens and
closes faster than any other app. You have to consider that most ppl don't
know how to use Photoshop! I know folks who toke a course on Photoshop in a
school and still don't know everything about it. Most ppl don't care for
complicated stuff like that. Cheers...
