I've had my Digital Elph for about 18 months now.
It has worked fine except I noticed lately power button doesn't always
turn camera on or once camera is on if I move it camera shuts off.
Canon wants $150.00 flat fee to look at it and if they fix it I get a
90 day warranty.
Maybe 420 dollars I paid for it wasn't enough. They want more.
Like maybe I will pick another Digital camera when next I buy or as a
suggestion to you if you are planning to buy a Canon.

I got basically the same problem. I liked using the camera a lot. Now
when I try to turn it on, I get an E18 error message on the display
which indicates a lens problem. I mailed it to Cannon last week.
I'll probally get it fixed if they charge me the flat rate because I
can't find a similar camera for that price. I won't pay more than $150,
though.
