The latch assembly inside my Coolpix 990 failed and will not keep the
battery compartment lid closed.

Does anyone know of a repair for the latch?

There are three latch dogs that retain the battery cover. I droped my
camera and it landed on the concrete whitch broke the tiney plastic
dogs. I made a cap for each much the same way a dentist caps a tooth
and glued them in place. This worked fairly well untill I had a flash
problem and sent the camera in for factory repair where I also had
them replace the jury rigged battery holder.

Send it in for repair and save yourself a lot of agony.

Duct tape works Seymore and Welch, but its rather a fly by night temp fix,
you'd be better off and I think much happier sending it in for proper repair
when you can.

By the way Seymore, are you the same Seymore on www.iPhotoHost.com ?

Or pigeon tape might do the trick as well...

Better for shooting statues with I hear.
