I am buying my first laptop to carry with me when traveling.

I will be using it to process, store, and revise the digital pictures I have
taken on the trip.

There is approx. $500 difference between between 2 very similar Sony models,
the only difference being the processor.

Do I need a pentium, or will the latest model celeron function adequately?

Thank you

well .. to transfer the images all u need is the mininum for the software
you will be using ... most modern laptops will cope with most aplications ..
of course the speed in which it will all happen will be faster with a
machine
with more resources to cope with your aplications .. photoshop will be much
slower on a celeron however if all you want to do is transfer your images
from the camera a second hand p2 with 64 megs of ram is what I use

The Celeron should be just fine unless your running autocad or your a high
tech gamer. The speed difference for normal applications is minimal.
