i am having trouble capturing video off my mini dv camera with a 1394 card.
When i first plug it in after a boot it works fine but if i try to access it
a second time the computer does not see the video camera. i have used
numerous video capturing programs but i get the same result for each. Also
if i start capturing video from the camera and about 20 mins into the
recording the recording stops (this it not a power problem, the cam is
plugged into the mains power). Im not sure whether its the 1394 card or if
its my video camera.
i am using...
Windows xp
Sony DCR-TRV33E mini DV camera
Sunix PCI 1394 Card FW3000SC
the supplied cable that came with the firewire card

Thanks
Matt

I'm not sure about your 1st problem (might be a driver problem). Check
Sony's, Microsoft, your firewire cards site and the video edit softwares
site. My camera is the DCR-TRV510 (Digital 8). I use Pinnacle Systems
"Studio DV". Works great. It has a capture setting that stops the camera
after so many minutes (I think the default was 20 minutes). I set it to 60
minutes.

Cheers, Brian
