Was just after opinions on what would be a good first digital camera for
normal use. was looking for a 3mp as I thought it would be good enough for
most uses without getting too expensive. How do people feel about the Kodak
range? Any other suggestions?

Check the Kodak warranty closely.

I have a DC 4800 Digital camera that has started being hard to turn and
intermittently will shutdown on it's on. Sometimes it will come on with
Time/Date screen in view with the default settings.

I contacted Kodak today. I was qouted a flat rate price to fix any problem
on a DC 4800 is $150.00. A friend at work had the same problem 3 months ago
and it was repaired for $60.00. He was out of warranty less than 1 month.

Any suggestions where I may have the camera problem looked at other than
Kodak will be appreciated. I live in The Panhandle of Florida near
Penscaloa.

Stay away! My 1.3 Mp Olympus D-150 makes nicer images than Kodaks of 2 &
3-Mp. First I didn't believe it until I saw the difference. Many folks think
megapixel is everything. I'd go with an Olympus D-560 or similar. Simple
point & shoot with a decent lens. Take a look at Nikons & Canons too! :)
Happy shopping..
